Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have been happily married for 16 years, and the country music superstars are still finding new ways to surprise each other. The spouses chatted about their most memorable anniversary during an on-stage interview at the Venetian Theatre in Las Vegas, where they're beginning to wrap up their limited engagement Soul2Soul concert series.
"We went to see Rod Stewart one year when he came through Nashville. I remember he was going into his encore and he was just about to sing 'Hot Legs,' and you pulled me out of the seat. I was like, 'What are you doing? I have to see Rod Stewart sing,'" Hill, 45, recalled. "Then you blindfolded me and put me into the car. We went to the airport and got a plane."
"And we were gone!" McGraw interjected while beaming at his wife.
"I forgave you once we got to where we were going," Hill laughed. "That was good, but it had to be good because I wouldn't have forgiven you having missed that song."
The singers, who got married in October 1996 and have three daughters, traveled to Key West, Florida. "It wasn't that great," McGraw, 45, said as they both broke into a fit of giggles. "It rained the whole time."
When it comes to romance, McGraw added, it's not just about grand gestures. "You just find moments. I think if you try to pin something on a day sometimes it goes awry, but every now and then something works out good."
Hill agreed, adding, "We've done a lot of fun things."
