About

Tim McGraw (born Samuel Timothy McGraw) is a Grammy-winning country music singer, actor and producer known for hit songs including “Live Like You Were Dying,” “Don’t Take the Girl,” “I Like It, I Love It” and “Humble and Kind,” as well as his decades-long marriage to fellow country star Faith Hill. McGraw was raised in Delhi, Louisiana, and is the son of former MLB pitcher Tug McGraw. He was raised by his mother, Betty Trimble, and attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe (formerly called Northeast Louisiana University) on a baseball scholarship before leaving college and moving to Nashville to pursue a career in country music.

After signing with Curb Records in 1990, McGraw released his self-titled debut album in 1993. His breakthrough came the following year with Not a Moment Too Soon (1994), which became one of the bestselling country albums of the year. A string of chart-topping singles throughout the 1990s and 2000s established him as one of country music’s biggest stars, while his successful tours with future wife Hill further expanded his audience.

McGraw’s later releases include All I Want (1995), Everywhere (1997), Live Like You Were Dying (2004), Southern Voice (2009) and Standing Room Only (2023). In addition to music, he has appeared in films including Friday Night Lights (2004), The Blind Side (2009) and Tomorrowland (2015) and starred alongside Hill in the western drama 1883. Throughout his career, McGraw has won three Grammys, including the award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance. He has also been awarded multiple Academy of Country Music Awards, Country Music Association Awards and American Music Awards.

McGraw began dating Hill in 1996 while on tour together, and the couple wed later that year. They share three daughters: Gracie McGraw (born in 1997), Maggie McGraw (born in 1998) and Audrey McGraw (born in 2001).
