Tom Hanks Seeks Student After Finding Her ID Card, Fordham Student Says She Wants ID Back

Tom Hanks for IDs
Tom Hanks posted a photo of a lost student ID on his Twitter on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Tom, where you at? Just one day after Tom Hanks tried to be helpful by posting a photo of a Fordham University student’s lost student ID on Twitter, the mystery woman has been located — but the Oscar winner is MIA!

“Lauren! I found your Student ID in the park. If you still need it my office will get [it] to you,” the Sully actor tweeted on Tuesday, Oct. 6, along with a photo of the ID in question. The star even signed the message, “Hanx.”

Lauren was quickly located via the power of social media, and the student sat down with the hosts of Good Morning America on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

“If you’re listening and you’re out there, I would love for my ID back,” she said on the morning talk show, jokingly addressing the Oscar winner directly. “Tom, I’m here.”

The college student revealed that she had been on a run in Central Park on Monday when she lost her ID after taking her phone out of her armband to take a photo of the fall leaves.

“Instagram, fall, of course,” she said with a laugh.

She told the hosts of GMA that she hadn’t even realized that the Forrest Gump star, 59, had made her Internet famous until one of her professors told her.

“I’m not on Twitter,” she said. “My professor is on Twitter [and] I’m sitting in the library trying to get homework done yesterday and I get an email with a little link to Twitter, ‘You’re famous.’”

According to Lauren, who asked not to use her last name, she has yet to hear from Hanks or his people — though she has, however, already forked over $20 for a new one.
