On Sunday, Aug. 16, Vicki Gunvalson and her longtime on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brooks Ayers, confirmed that they have once again split. The Real Housewives of Orange County star, 53, and her longtime boyfriend have told Us Weekly.

"After much prayer, thought, counseling, and consideration, we have decided to end our four year relationship," the couple tells Us in a statement. "We both wish nothing but a great future for each other. We have come to realize that one can indeed love someone in their heart, but that the time may come for their lives to take separate paths. Though the remaining episodes of Season 10 of The Real Housewives of Orange County will show us as a couple, the filming took place in January 2015 through May 2015. There will be no further statements or interviews regarding our relationship as we choose to move on with our lives. Though we choose to live our lives in the public eye, we thank you for your understanding and ask privacy during this difficult time."

This isn't the first time Gunvalson and Ayers have split. Back in 2013 they announced that they had parted ways after two years of dating. By fall 2014 they had reconciled when the pair learned that Ayers had stage 3 cancer.

"[Cancer] either will tear you apart as a couple or bring you together. And with us, without a doubt, it's brought us together," Ayers told Us Weekly at the time.

Ayers even moved into Gunvalson's Orange County home. One person who never agreed with their romance was the reality star's daughter, Briana Culberson

"Briana and I, we've kind of agreed to disagree on this one subject," Gunvalson said in November 2014. Culberson and Ayers got into a heated fight during a reunion episode in 2013.

"You told my husband, 'You have to start hitting Briana to get her to fall in line,'" Gunvalson's daughter recalled. Ayers confirmed he said that and apologized, claiming he was drunk at the time.

Culberson wasn't alone in her distaste. Gunvalson's on and off bestie Tamra Judge also had issues with Ayers.

It's been a tough year for Gunvalson, who lost her mother, Joanne Steinmetz, and found out about her death as the RHOC cameras rolled in an intense episode that aired on July 6.
