All grown up! Zachery Ty Bryan and Jonathan Taylor Thomas reunited at the screening for Dark Tourist in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Aug. 14, and the former child stars looked worlds away from their on-screen alter egos.
Bryan, 31, who played the oldest son of Tim Allen‘s Tim Taylor character, Brad, towered over his Home Improvement costar at the film event. (Thomas played middle son Randy on the hit Fox show.)
The actor has been largely out of the spotlight since the series’ end in 1999, taking on bit parts on TV shows such as Burn Notice, Boston Public, and Veronica Mars, among others. He married wife Carly Matros in 2007.
In an interview with Hollywood.com last year, however, Bryan revealed that he, Thomas, and Taran Noah Smith (who played youngest brother Mark) still keep in touch off-screen.
“I mainly stay in touch with Jonathan,” the actor said at the time. “He was going to Columbia University, he finally graduated. He’s back out here in L.A., and I think he’s pursuing directing … We’ll go out, hang out for an evening, catch up. All good stuff. … I also keep in touch with Taran via Facebook.”
Patricia Richardson, who played Taylor matriarch Jill on the series, posted a photo of the reunited cast in 2011 and updated fans with snippets about her on-screen sons.
“Zach is film producer, married to beautiful girl, just bought beautiful home near beach, so happy,” she tweeted in August 2011. “Jonathan is acting, also wants to direct!”
