She wears her sunglasses at night! Just like she does in the front row of every fashion show ever, the ever-so-stylish Anna Wintour sported her trademark sunglasses inside the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood during the 87th Academy Awards show on Sunday, Feb. 22.
Vogue's editor-in-chief, 65, who was seated between her daughter Bee Schaffer and power couple Harvey Weinstein and Georgina Chapman, was snapped by eagle-eyed Oscars attendees wearing her sunglasses and elegantly clapping during the show. Us Weekly observers noticed Wintour interacting with multiple A-listers like Cate Blanchett and Jennifer Aniston inside the theater.
At approximately a quarter past 6, Blanchett was the first star to hit the Dolby Lounge to get a drink during the broadcast. Other stars slowly filtered over to the bar to pick up refreshments, including Wintour. There, she crossed paths with Aniston, who waved "super excitedly" at the Vogue editor. Wintour in return "waved back” and then "beelined” for the statuesque presenter Blanchett, an eyewitness says.
Observers tell Us that Wintour and Blanchett chatted it up for a bit at the bar, where last year's Best Actress Oscar winner sipped on what looked like a vodka cocktail. Wintour, meanwhile, only drank water.
Wintour spoke about a male pal who dealt with addiction and is now three years sober. "He's on a really good path," Wintour noted of her unnamed friend, "and I'd be thrilled if he won."
The two ladies also spoke about their attire for the evening. Blanchett attended the show on Sunday in a solid black gown by John Galliano for Maison Martin Margiela with a Tiffany & Co. turquoise, aquamarine, and diamond necklace, while Wintour opted for an equally simple look in a rosebud-colored gown with a fur shrug.
The actress asked the Conde Nast creative director what was under her fur shrug and Anna responded: "Oh, I went very plain. I promise."
Blanchett responded, "Oooo we're such fashionable ladies!"
