If you're like just about every breathing person in the world, you love Cate Blanchett's style. Known for her fearless fashion choices, the often-avant-garde Oscar winner turns to celeb stylist Elizabeth Stewart for her stunning red carpet choices.
Having curated more than 100 impeccable looks from the Cannes Film Festival to the Oscars, Stewart, who also dresses Sandra Bullock and Julia Roberts, tops the Hollywood Reporter Power Stylists 2014 list. While she admits Blanchett's embellished Armani Prive gown from the Oscars was a "very last-minute choice," her favorite style of the season was the Blue Jasmine star's black tulle and lace Armani Prive from the Golden Globes. "[It] was an incredible way to start the season," she told the Hollywood Reporter.
Fellow Oscar nominee Amy Adams' stylist, Petra Flannery, took the second spot. "What shapes flatter that person, what shades work, and what feels right in conjunction with the style of the dress," Flannery says of her philosophy for picking an Oscars gown. "The wrong color can take away from the elegance of the design."
Red carpet darling Lupita Nyong'o's stylist, Micaela Erlanger, rounded out the top three. "Michelle [Dockery] was my first major client; her Globes dress was life-changing," Erlanger says. The Downton Abbey star introduced Erlanger to newcomer (and Non-Stop co-star) Nyong'o in the summer 2013. "Michelle said, 'When you're ready, I have the perfect stylist for you,'" Nyong'o said.
The pair first worked together for the Toronto Film Festival when Nyong'o made a splash in a white and gold Prada. Says Erlanger, "The rest is history."
