Designers Line Up to Dress "Full-Sized" Gabourey Sidibe

Despite her curves, Precious' Gabourey Sidibe has her pick for Oscar dresses.
"We've been offered dresses by all these huge designers. It just proves that anyone can dress a full-sized woman," her stylist Linda Medvene tells USA Today.

Choosing a gown has been "quite easy," continues Medvene. "I have such good relationships with people and they're madly in love with Gabby. Everyone wants to dress her. Working with Gabby has been so easy because she's so comfortable with who she is, in her skin."

The Best Supporting Actress nominee, 26, had her first dress fitting on Tuesday ahead of the March 7 awards show.
will wear a Marchesa gown to the March 7 Awards show. (Celeb fans of the line include Kate Hudson and Jennifer Lopez.) Her first fitting was Tuesday.
Sidibe admitted on The Oprah Winfrey Show last fall that she's struggled with her body image.
"It's something I've had to work at. My first diet started when I was six years old," she said. "I've never been a small girl. One day I had to sit down with myself and decide that I loved myself no matter what my body looked like and what other people thought about my body."

Around the time she turned 22, she decided to embrace her figure.
"I got tired of feeling bad all the time. I got tired of hating myself," Sidibe said.

if someone is fat people say they must have some disorder or addiction. what ever happened to just LAZY? she may have done good in the movie and be comfortable with herself, but she doesn't care about herself or she wouldn't be that big. She should take care of her body, and I don't care what anyone say's that size is NOT healthy in any way. That just encourages young people that you can neglect your body and health. I am not perfect by any means but I do not treat my body like a waste station open 24 hours. What ever happened to the expression your body is a temple?

wow... people have to stop making fun of her and look at what a great job she did... and she never did any other acting jobs before. she's amazing. but she is probably going to die because of her weight. skinny isn't neceserily healthy. but fat isn't either. she needs to loose weight. but she doesn't need to be skinny.
As an addiction therapist I have had many clients with eating disorders who maintain a very thin stature....but none the less hate themselves. Look at the people in our media who influence our children....Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan etc. Drugs, alcoholic, dumb antics- this is what our children see and look up to. Is Gabby a healthy weight? No, but saying hateful things is not exactly goal focused. Fat, thin, skinny- doesn't really matter if you continue to hate yourself. I am sure now that she is in the limelight some famous trainer or nutrisionist will grab hold of her. Until then it is nice to see a young lady who has not been touched by Hollywood and all the criques. If you are truly worried about her health make suggestions- no reason to become critical and hateful...what purpose does that serve other then spread the self loathing.

She's sweet - the acticle is showing that designers can create dresses for plus-sized women just as easy as they can for petite women. Mariah has curves... but that was a horrible dress to wear to The Oscars!

Everyone owns their own bodies therfore someone elses weight is their own business. Takes all kinds to make a world. She is great and I hope she doesn't have health issues. She's not hiding away or using her weight as an excuse not to live life to the fullest, and for that she should be commended.
