My love for Katy Perry shows no sign of waning...I dressed up as her for Halloween; I went to India a mere week before the big wedding; and now, I'm obsessed with her hot hairstyle from Sunday's American Music Awards. The look was chic and modern, totally glam but also kind of effortlessly sexy -- in other words, everything girls want in a 'do!

For the look, Perry's mane man, Danilo (who's also longtime stylist to one of my other music faves, Gwen Stefani!) tells UsMagazine.com that the singer "wanted big, voluminous hair for the show." So he created a look inspired by Tinseltown; it's "classic Hollywood with a contemporary twist," Danilo says. He tells Us how to recreate it.

After shampooing, Danilo applied a heat protective product to strengthen strands while blow-drying, then he applied root lifting gel through sections. He then blow-dried with a giant round brush, lifting each section from the roots to create long-lasting volume. Once hair was dry, he used a medium-barreled curling iron to form spiral curls, spritzed hair with hairspray and pinned curls up to boost body. After hair cooled down, he unpinned curls, then brushed them out. The result is "glamorous waves at the bottom, as opposed to a retro look where the hair is curled under," Danilo says. The finishing touch? A spritz of flexible hold hairspray for waves that last through a performance!
