How to Style Yourself Like a Star
Wanna look red carpet ready? Us Weekly fashion director, Sasha Charnin Morrision's new book, Secrets of Stylists: An Insider's Guide to Styling the Stars ($16, amazon.com), reveals tips from the pros. Now she gives Us a few of her own favorite tricks.
Suck it In
Body-slimming undergarments such as Spanx are a must. "They smooth everything. You can drop two sizes!" enthuses Charnin Morrison.
Fit is Key
"Sleeves that are too long and dresses that swallow you legs ruin a look," she advises. "Nothing is more crucial than clothes that fit."
Carry an Emergency Prop Kit
A small bag with double-stick tape for cleavage repairs, clear nail polish for stocking runs and safety pins "can repair any fashion mishaps that comes up," she says.
Remember the Basics
Black pencil skirts, pointy-toe sling-backs in black or nude, basic cardigans that can be belted and fitted T-shirts "are always in style," says the author.
Develop Your Own Style
"Trust your instincts," she says. "Stars like Halle Berry know what works best on them. So should you!"
