But what will she wear?!
Kate Middleton welcomed her first daughter, the new princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, bright and early on Saturday, May 2, in London, England. And while she and Prince William have yet to reveal their royal baby girl to the world, one thing’s for sure: When the Duchess of Cambridge steps out of St. Mary’s Hospital soon enough, she’ll surely be looking stylish—possibly with a little inspiration from the beloved Princess Diana!
When Middleton, 32, presented Prince George to the world back in 2013, she chose a sweet blue Jenny Packham dress with white polka dots (teamed with nude wedges). Her choice of a loose frock, which showcased her natural post-baby curves, was applauded for its lack of vanity. But it was also noted for a sentimental reason: It looked quite similar to the dotted aqua dress Princess Diana chose when she stepped out with Prince William for the first time in 1982.
So the question is: Will the Duchess make a nod to her late mother-in-law again? Perhaps! When the Princess of Wales revealed her second child, Prince Harry, in September of 1984, she donned a crimson ensemble, including a long coatdress, cherry-striped blouse, and bow-topped red heels.
Just like Diana, Middleton has proven time and again that she loves being a lady in red! She’s nailed the strong hue on numerous royal occasions, including overseas while visiting Canada (2011) and New Zealand (2014), and when she celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee (2012).
But of course, as Diana had two princes and Middleton just gave birth to a princess, no one would hold it against her if she decided to create a new tradition and wear pink!
