“I always start with the shoes in the morning. I pick them first and that inspires the rest of the outfit,” Fashion Star host Louise Roe tells Us Weekly. This summer, the engaged stylist, 31, has plenty of denim to choose from when building her day-to-day looks. While denim can be pricey, Roe insists this spring’s top trends — patchwork, pastel, bell-bottoms and floral denim — are worth a little extra. “When you divide the cost of jeans by how many times you’ll wear them, it’s worth paying more,” she explains.

PATCHWORK
How to Wear Them: Roe is always on the hunt for jeans she calls “casual and dressy at the same time.” A no-brainer outfit: slim pants with distressed details elevated by punchy stilettos and a tailored graphic blazer.

How to Wear Them: Update last year’s high-rise pink washes by tucking in a fitted silk top. “I button blouses all the way up,” says Roe. “It makes the look of-the-moment.” An easy way to stand out in this look without going broke? “Buy a bejeweled Peter Pan collar and add it to a shirt you already own,” suggests Roe.

BELL-BOTTOMS
How to Wear Them: The retro mainstay undergoes a transformation thanks to a lightweight stretchy fabric, Tencel. Adding a melange of prints — snakeskin shoes, leopard coat, Aztec top — lends a polished vibe. “The ’70s are my favorite decade,” says Roe. “I keep photos of my mom from that time when she lived in Rio de Janeiro. They inspire me.”

FLORAL
How to Wear Them: Keep the outfit bright with a complementary shirt. “I like pulling out one color in the print, like fuchsia, but you could try a yellow top with this too,” Roe tells Us. Bottom-heavy? “Pick a pair of pants with tiny flowers,” she advises. “They are much more forgiving on the hips and butt areas.” Amp up nighttime sex appeal with a biker jacket and ankle straps.
