Recessionista: Bright and Flat

These are a breath of fresh air.

Free People's Nouveau Riche flats are pretty, brand-new and stripped of all the fall sequined and studded pagentry. These $68 ballerinas also ring in a new hot color for 2010.

I love the pink, but there are other colors like yellow, black and super-chic taupe. These are so reminiscent of the flats that celebrities love from Lanvin, which are priced at about $515. The Free People shoes are not only priced well, but they're padded in the footbed and elasticized around the foot for a snug fit. Wear them with just about anything -- jeans, leggings, dresses or whatever feels the newest and freshest!

Sized 6 to 10, this hot shoe is already selling out -- so if you luck out online, locate a store instead.

Buy it here.

I like these in pink AND in nude. Cute. love ballerina's. All you haters are hysterical. So passionate. Wow. You must be a barrel of laughs when you're really upset....

Nicole is a cute trendy young lady BUT this has got to be the worst fashion trend since black nail polish. Plus, 100% flats like these with zero arch support are almost as bad as very high heels on your feet.

These are really cute and would be great with jeans or a skirt or dress in the summer. I don't think that they're overpriced, especially if they are real leather. You get what you pay for, and usually if you pay a little more, things last longer.

6:39? "You guys are obviously too young to remember how awesome the 80s were. Maybe after you hit puberty you'll learn to appreciate." I said what I did because I WAS around in the 80s, and I'm long past puberty. The 80s were NOT awesome, and I was glad when they were over. And these shoes are a reminder of why.

The 80s were awesome! Quit hating. You guys are obviously too young to remember how awesome the 80s were. Maybe after you hit puberty you'll learn to appreciate.

Those are the ugliest shoes and they make the person wearing them look dirty, like they haven't washed their genitalia in two weeks and just plan stupid. Ugly, ugly!! I didn't like the look in the 50's, the 80's and certainly not now!!!
