Taking “Through the Looking Glass” seriously! Solange Knowles made her highly anticipated arrival at the 2015 Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute benefit on Monday, May 4, wearing … well, it wasn’t clear at first.
Beyonce’s younger sister, 28, rocked a Giles minidress in the shape of a circular blob with a surrealist print. At the center of the dress, her hourglass figure was outlined, giving off the illusion that the New Orleans-based DJ had fallen into a black hole.
She paired the statement dress with simple black heels and wore her hair back in a ponytail. This year’s Met Gala theme is “China: Through the Looking Glass.”
Knowles’ appearance at the Met Gala follows her headline-making antics at last year’s event, when elevator security footage was released of Knowles fighting in an elevator with her brother-in-law Jay Z following an afterparty at The Standard hotel’s Boom Boom Room.
Following the incident, the family released a joint statement, saying, "Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family."
Beyonce even referenced the event in her remix to the song “Flawless,” singing, “Of course sometimes s—t goes down when there’s a billion dollars in the elevator.”
