Turn on the brights!

This past week's record heat temps across the country caused some celebs to ditch their chic, all-black ensembles on the red carpet and brighten things up in eye-popping hues.

At The Smurfs world premiere in NYC on Sunday, Modern Family's Sofia Vergara and Glee's Jayma Mays both showed up in colorful dresses that stood out in a sea of neutrally dressed stars. Vergara, 39, donned a violet Missoni gown and an arm-full of matching Lorraine Schwartz bangles. Mays, 32, wore a strapless green couture mini dress by Reem Acra.

Freida Pinto and Ginnifer Goodwin both opted for acid green ensembles this weekend at Comic-Con 2011 in San Diego. Pinto, 26, stepped out at the Immortals press line in a fluorescent Michael Kors Resort 2012 sheath with black piping and black shoes while Goodwin, 33, rocked a bright yellow Roksanda Ilincic asymmetrical dress with nude heels.
