John Travolta Tears Up on Ellen

Wednesday – November 11, 2009 – 9:05am

John Travolta says he is grateful for all of the support he has received since his son Jett died at age 16 following a seizure this past January.

"I just want to take one moment to thank each and every one of you throughout this country, through out the world for all your support and all your love for our family," he says on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Wednesday. "Thank you very much."

His 9-year-old daughter Ella -- who makes her film debut with her dad in their upcoming comedy Old Dogs (out Nov. 25) --- also appears with him for her first talk show interview.

"You are so proud of her, aren't you?" DeGeneres asks Travolta, 45, of his daughter.

"I'm holding back the tears..." he says as DeGeneres hands him a tissue.

Travolta also reveals his new hobby: tennis

"I play everyday," he says. "I play at midnight, kind of vampire-style."

Who does he play with? His housing staff.

"The house manager and the house maintenance person," he says. "At midnight, we go to the local tennis court."

I have been in Scientology for 9 years and my husband has been a Scientologist much longer then that. I know many Scientologists that have gone to medical dr.'s when needed. It's funny that people think JT was not giving his son medical care. He was on medicine for his seizures.. But was taken off the meds by his Dr. they were not effective any more. They were going for a second opinion... when Jet died. So interesting that people on the internet know more about Jets' medical condition then his own parents and Dr.'s??? I have met John and his wife and they are very nice people. People need to get a life and stop bashing a religion or people they no nothing about.

YOU CAN'T BLAME SCIENTOLOGY for Travolta's choice on how to medicate their kid. I will repeat the FACTS if you didn't get it before: I've been a Scientologist for 33 years. I'm getting a little tired of reposting this all the time but my son is developmentally delayed and has chronic seizure disorder. (He;s a totally cool kid, though.) He is on a daily regimen of Tegretol and another drug - the name escapes me at the moment.)(btw it's Depakote) The Church of Scientology has NEVER coached me on what I could and could not give him or any option about his seizure disorder whatsoever. And my son's situation is definitely known about. It's very easy to verify how many Scientologist familys may be using medicine for physical ailments. Anyone who got it otherwise is not really trying to examine the issue. They've got SERIOUS other fish to fry.

Big Pharma has the awoved goal of making a patient out of every human being on Earth. This was confirmed to me just today by three physicians here in Denmark writing a book about it. They also slammed the Danish equivalent of the FDA portraying them to be in the pocket of the pharmaceutical industry. If you don't believe this just look how the elderly in the nursing homes are treated; they are on strong anti-psychotic medication to keep them nice and quiet because the personnel can't be bothered to care for them. And all the millions upon millions on SSRI "anti-depressives," and look at all the hard-hitting adverts on primetime TV to consumers directly to get them hooked up on psychotropics. For more info see Healthranger.org.

Big Pharma wants to make every human being a patient to earn the big buck. That is the unadulterated truth, just today confirmed by three physicians here in Denmark writing a book about it and also slamming the Danish equivalent of the FDA for being in the pocket of the pharmaceutical industry. See healthranger.org for further info. And Scientology is one of the biggest obstacles standing in their way in accomplishing this goal.

Some, like Shelby, rant out of being duped. They have no experience about Scientology but are either duped by the media or shills for somebody. Either way, they are under the influence.

"Girl Next Door" your childish little temper tantrum is COMPLETELY stupid! People have suffered and even died at the hands of this cult and there are people who DO care about the abuses perpetrated against it's victims. So why don't YOU shut up. You are a complete $cientologist dupe.

Why is it every time Scientology is accused of some kind of abuse or other un-ethical act, the media falls for their public relations spin campaigns. Just a couple weeks ago, Paul Haggis quits Scientology in disgust over their haterd of gay people. And now we have Scientologies biggest celebrity on a lesbians talks show. Just like when they were sued for human rights abuse, a couple weeks later, Scientology is supporting the United Nations Human Rights agenda in the media. I can tell you first hand, Scientology and human rights do not go together. I was abuse in Travoltas CULT for most of my childhood. IT MAKES ME SICK EVERY TIME I HEAR TRAVOLT SUPPORTING THE CULT of SCIENTOLOGY. If I was not a Christian now, I would probably hate the man and the rest of the people that support Scientology, despite the constant PROOF of criminal and psychological abuse by Scientology leadership.

I fail to have any real pity for a man who denied the existence (until legally necessary), let alone allowed adequate treatment, of the disease that killed his son. Of course, that he was unable to accept the disease is down to the cult he belonged to, which continues to put people at risk.

Shelby, Thank you for your honesty and for sharing your information on Scientology. You have given a voice to all who have been harmed by this so called church. Good parents do all that they can to help their children. The Travolta's put Scientology first-before doing what was best for their son. They were negligent and irresponsible in the caring of Jett. The Travolta's should not be given a free pass-homicide charges should be brought against them.

November 12, 2009 - 12:45pm Shelby Says: Do you people remember that John Travolta lied for years about what was wrong with his son Jett? He never acknowledged that boy was autistic until he admitted it to the Bahamian police after Jett was dead. John's brother Joey Travolta is an amazingly caring man who is an autism activist. It's sad that Jett couldn't have gotten help from his uncle. Autistic children can make a lot of progress with the right treatment and loving care. Jett Travolta never got that chance because the only thing Scientology offered up to help Jett were purification rundowns and auditing. Even a neighbor of Travolta said the people in their community knew that Jett just sat in front of a tv eating junk food all the time. If you want to feel sorry for someone, feel sorry for Jett. Or feel sorry for all the other people that Scientology has harmed or ruined. My heart does break that Jett wasn't given a chance to have the life that he could have with the proper seizure medicine---also something Scientology does not agree with and help with his autism. The Travolta's had the money to give that child the best care and they didn't because of Scientology. And for those Scientologists out there saying they grieved when they lost family members? Then you were low on the Tone Scale. Scientology's Tone Scale is easily found on the internet. Just google it and see how normal human feelings and reactions are squashed via Hubbard's Tone Scale. I also reserve my sympathy for all the people enslaved in Scientology's Sea Org. There are currently three different law suits brought up by ex-Scientologists and part of those lawsuits involve human trafficking=slavery. It is well-documented by ex-Scientologists that Travolta knows about the abuse in the Sea Org and yet he remains a Scientologist. My heart breaks for people who are being abused in the Sea Org while people are calling me sick for not believing the lies that John Travolta tells. But, hey, it's perfectly alright for a Scientologist to lie as long as they are Keeping Scientology Working. How much sympathy are we supposed to have for a man who put Scientology above the health and safety of his own child and who knows that Scientology deals in human trafficking? Scientology is so much worse than you think, people. Try googling ex-Scientology kids and go read a whole website full of stories of what it's like to grow up in Scientology and then tell me who you feel sorry for. I dare you all to read their stories. BTW? One of the young women who started that website is the niece of the current leader of Scientology David Miscavige. Her name is Jenna Miscavige Hill and she tells a powerful story. ********************************************************** SHUT UP PLEASE. Your rant is COMPLETELY stupid! Who cares about Scientologists and their beliefs. The point is, the man lost his son. You're a complete r e t a r d!

I have a 22 yr old autistic son who is very similar in looks & actions to Jett Travolta and also cannot speak. My son had his first ever grand mal seizure last year and nearly died. Thank God he was at school at the time & the nurses were there to provide oxygen & an ambulance arrived quickly. I can't imagine losing him. Both boys have an angel-like innocence to them. You can see the deep love John has for his children. I pray that God gives John the strength to continue to be strong.

Only evil people would try to take advantage of leaving comments about the Travolta's religion and pointing fingers of cause of death. Evil as Satan to criticize a person who lost a child. To stoop so low to promote your anti Scientology cause when a person in grief. How about you pray for the family instead, send them God's blessings prayers? Evil will not help you become motivators nor teachers in you acts against Scientology. God has taught

Brian, what does Victoreen and Deja VU have anything to do with John Travolta (JT)? Nothing. Go preach somewhere else. As for JT and his religious beliefs, they are just that his. No one elses and for anyone to say negative things, just think about if someone was harassing you because of your religion. Seriously! Grow up and find something better to do with your life. He is and always will be an awesome actor and I hope that he, Kelly, and Ella Blue stay strong throughout this first holiday season without Jett. Such a tragedy to lose a child so young. My heart, thoughts and prayers will always remain with this family forever. I love you.

John Travolta is a fabulous and honest man and a wonderful actor. People who put him down because his religious beliefs do not coincide with their own are stupid and jealous idiots, in my opinion. I am not a Scientologist and I am not at all impressed with L. Ron Hubbard or his writings or his religion. I nearly married a very wonderful ex-prostitute named Victoreen Johnson in Seattle around 1980, but declined her proposal solely because she insisted I become a Scientology practitioner as a prerequisite. Victoreen, at the time, worked as an entertainer and topless dancer at what was the Frank Colocurcio's home club, the Playhouse Tavern on 145th and Lake City Way. That club is now under different ownership and is called "Deja Vu". Frank is under Federal Indictment, along with several of his bunch at Talents West, the management company that recruits and contracts the dancers for Frank's clubs. Bob escaped to parts unknown. ("Bob's Place" is the only evidence of Robert Payton's association with the club "Sugar's" on about 155th and Aurora (alias Evergreen Way a.k.a. Highway 99) in Shoreline, Washington. Robert Payton was not indicted and his present location is unknown...possibly in Brownsville, Texas, we hope). Victoreen Johnson, we were told, married an attorney and probably has at least two lovely daughters by now, we speculate. I also speculate that she and her husband and their children are practicing Scientologists. I would love to meet and chat with any of the people mentioned herein. Scientologists or not, people who are brave enough to go with their true heartfelt feelings and act according to their true beliefs are people I respect and admire. The world is a fricked up place...didn't you notice? We need more people like John Travolta and Victoreen Johnson and Frank Colocurcio and Robert Payton. We need fewer paranoid weasels always putting everyone down with their weak suspicious forked tongues, like the previous commentor.

JD, I would love to see support for your assertion that "They did do everything they could." Fake self-righteous indignation premised upon falsehoods is not becoming. If this was an unknown father who refused his child medical treatment based upon the words of some crazy cult leader, and that resulted in the child's death, you would be the first to jump on the blame bandwagon. Apparently merely because JT is a celebrity, you fawn all over him and ignore the facts. I got some true self-righteous indignation to match your fake indignation. And it's directed right at you, sir.
