Looking to take the family to the movies over Christmas vacation?
Here, Us Weekly film editor Bradley Jacobs shares his top picks for the best flicks set to hit theaters this month.
On Christmas Day, Sandra Bullock's first project since winning the Oscar for The Blind Side, hits screens nationwide. In the drama based on Jonathan Safran Foer's novel, Bullock appears as the widow of a man (Tom Hanks) who dies in the 9/11 attacks. After his dad's death, Bullock's on-screen son (Thomas Horn) searches the city with a mysterious key left to him by his father in hand to see just what it unlocks.
If you're looking for action at the theater this holiday, give Tom Cruise's latest Mission Impossible flick -- Ghost Protocol -- a try. In the flick, out December 21, Cruise's Ethan Hunt again wows in the fifth sequel, set in Dubai.
Us Weekly reports that during filming, Cruise found a way to fit right in with his cast members: He arranged hockey games and go karting bonding sessions for after-hours fun!
After Christmas, count down to 2012 with Garry Marshall's New Year's Eve, out now. The ensemble rom-com starring the likes of Ashton Kutcher, Halle Berry and Lea Michele highlights a series of interlocking love stories, with all the action taking place on December 31.
