It appears that Beyonce whipped her hair back and forth a little too vigorously during a Monday, July 22 concert in Montreal -- getting her famous hair caught in a huge fan while singing "Halo." But, Beyonce being Beyonce, the superstar continued belting out the powerful ballad without a hitch for an 18,000-strong audience as guards tried to free her tresses from the wind-blowing device.
And while plenty of online observers were LOLing about the malfunction, a source close to Blue Ivy's mom, 32, explains to Us Weekly the real story behind the mishap. "Bey's hair got caught in the fan because she went downstage to an area she normally doesn't go for a fan," the insider says, revealing that it was a special fan -- the human kind! -- that inspired the Grammy winner.
"There was a girl in the front who was holding up a sign with a bucket list on it of all the things she wanted to do with her life. It was things like 'graduate from college' and all the boxes were checked except the last one, which was 'Sing With Beyonce!'" the source tells Us.
"Beyonce was so moved she went down into the pit to sing 'Halo' with the girl to give her her final wish," says the insider. "She wasn't even thinking of the fan -- she was focused on the girl she was trying to do something nice for and it was unprompted. It really came from a good place."
Not that Beyonce, touring the planet for her Mrs. Carter World Tour, doesn't have a great sense of humor about the whole thing. On her instagram, she shared a video of the snafu and a handwritten Instagram note in which she rewrote the lyrics to "Halo" to address the fan-demonium.
"Gravity can't begiiiin/to pull me out of the fan again./I felt my hair was yankiiin/From the fan that's always hatiiiin," the memo read. "I got snatched!"
