Craziest Idol episode ever?!

Not even the staunchest American Idol fan could have predicted how Thursday's show played out.

The first shocking surprise came when judges' favorite Casey Abrams, thanks to a lack of viewer votes, landed in the bottom two.

Shocked by the news, Abrams struggled to croon "Don't Need No Doctor" in the hopes of a last-minute save from Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.

But the judges were having none of it: They cut Abrams' song short and told him he was staying on.

"We know who you are, Casey," Jackson said. "We don't need to hear you sing anymore, do we Steven?"

"We made a decision to keep you on," Tyler added.

Abrams was visibly stunned by the rescue. "Are you kidding?!" he sputtered, trembling with the good news.

"Oh my God! It's unreal!" the 20 year-old camp counselor said. "I started singing and the fact that you cut it scared the stuff out of me!"

Also staying on: Stefano Langone, who survived the bottom two alongside Abrams.

Next week, two singers will be cut from the final 11.
