Crying Girl "Couldn't Hold Back" Tears After Idol Audition

Here's something for her to cry about.

Ashley Ferl, who became hysterical every time Sanjaya performed on American Idol's fifth season, auditioned for the show in Pasadena, Calif. in an episode shown Tuesday night.

Unfortunately, "I didn't make it past the first round," Ferl, 16, tells UsMagazine.com.

"I was nervous, and we'd been out there since 10 p.m. the night before so I didn't get any sleep," explains Ferl, who performed Taylor Swift's song "Tim McGraw."

Says her mom Stacy, "She forgot the words. She went out bawling!"

Adds Ashley (who never got a chance to meet Simon Cowell or any of the other judges) of her tears, "I couldn't hold them back."

Still, the Idol hopeful, who tried to stand out by wearing some "pretty awesome knee socks," plans on auditioning next year.

"I'm taking singing lessons. Hopefully that will work!" the high school junior tells Us.

She’ll still tune into the show even though she didn't make the cut, according to her mom.

"My son counts down the days before Christmas, my daughter counts down the days before Idol," Stacy tells Us.
