The ladies from Brooklyn are packing up their brownstones! The hit HBO comedy Girls is coming to a close, HBO confirms. The Lena Dunham-created series will be ending after its sixth season.
The show, which stars Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke and Zosia Mamet as four dysfunctional millennials living in Brooklyn, New York, is currently preparing for its season 5 premiere on Sunday, February 21.
Though Dunham, 29, has not commented on the news, the Golden Globe winner has previously alluded to the series ending after season 6.
“Never say never, but that is the way that we’re thinking about it right now and we’re starting to think about sort of how to wrap up the storylines of these particular young women,” Dunham told the Elvis Duran and the Morning Show in September 2015. “I started working on this show when I was 23, and now I’m going to be 30 so it kind of feels right that this show kind of sandwiched my 20s and then I go off into the world!”
