More than two years after Britney Spears released her Circus album, the 29-year-old pop star has returned with the heavily-anticipated song "Hold It Against Me."

The Max Martin and Dr. Luke-produced track is the official first single from Spears' forthcoming album, scheduled for a March release. With fans and radio stations both eagerly awaiting its release, Spears decided to release "Hold It Against Me" ahead of schedule on Monday.

"Don't hold it against me for coming out early. I couldn't wait any longer," she tweeted Monday. "Hope you don't mind."

"Hold It Against Me" is available for purchase on iTunes at midnight on Tuesday, January 11.
