Dave's sweetheart! Julia Roberts stopped by the Late Show on Wednesday, May 13, to make a final appearance with David Letterman in one of his last hours behind the desk.

Roberts, 47, has been joining Letterman for late-night chats for more than 25 years. The beloved star first met the veteran comedian, now 68, in 1988.

"The first time I was on this show was to promote Mystic Pizza," Roberts explained, supporting her longtime pal in a Late Show-branded letterman jacket. "I, as a fan of the show, did not want to come on because I had seen you absolutely dismember young actresses of my kind of peer group."

"I thought, 'I'm gonna go on and he's gonna know within 10 seconds what my IQ is,' and you are going to, like a samurai, just sort of like Benihana me into pieces, and I'll be left for dead and forgotten," added Roberts, who went on to explain that Letterman gave his guests a tough time simply because "stupid people annoy [him]."

The talk show host clearly did not eviscerate Roberts in the way she expected, as the Oscar winner returned to Letterman's couch many, many times over the years.

The two stars' decades together were detailed on the Late Show in a hilarious video, capturing the multiple moments that they locked lips. Roberts and Letterman have a habit of kissing when they catch up with one another on the show.

The Erin Brockovich star gave Letterman one final kiss on Wednesday evening, going on to pay tribute to her friend.

"I just wanna say, David Letterman, I love you and I thank you for all of the joy and the laughs and the intelligence you have brought to us for 33 years," she gushed. Watch a montage of their late-night kisses in the video above!
