Justin Theroux Talks Bulge on The Leftovers: I Needed Two Pairs of Underwear!
Justin Theroux recently became infamous for something other than his acting chops, his screenwriting prowess, and his A-list fiancée Jennifer Aniston. While shooting scenes for his HBO show The Leftovers, Theroux, 43, exposed more than he likely meant to in a pair of jogging pants, and created quite a stir when photos surfaced in June 2013. He finally addressed his now-trademark bulge when he stopped by Conan on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
"Okay, this is embarrassing, but I don't know how else to ask you about this," Conan O'Brien quipped. "Lot of fans of your show The Leftovers, I really love the show, many women today on my staff came up to me and they were saying, 'You have to ask Justin.' There's a scene where you're jogging and they say that your package is quite apparent when you're jogging in these sweatpants. I guess it's a thing that women are talking about."
As Theroux covered his face with his hands and laughed, O'Brien, 51, questioned, "Was there enhancement going on there? Did you put a clock down there?"
The actor pondered his response, saying, "I'm trying to figure out what the classy way to answer this question is."
"The true story is, is that I didn't know that was a thing until…" Theroux continued. "There's two jogging scenes in the show. There's one in the pilot episode and then there's one we did much later. Oh god I can't believe, I don't even want to tell this story…"
The gritty hunk finally relented, explaining what happened after his famous first jog. "When I went to get my wardrobe for the second jogging scene way later, there was my jogging pants and then there was two pairs of underwear in the dressing room," he said. "I was like, 'Oh, I can clearly choose between two pairs,' and they were like, 'No, they want you to wear them both.'"
When Theroux struggled to offer up further explanation, O'Brien responded, "There's really not a question there, I'm just congratulating you."
