Since when does Katy Perry like football? The “Unconditionally” singer, 29, took to Twitter on Sunday, Oct. 12, to tweet about her newfound fondness for the sport, writing, “Ahh, Sunday…Nothing but sitting on the couch, watching my new favorite sport…[football emoji].”
The cheeky new tweet comes after multiple reports surfaced last week that the chart-topper is set to headline the 2015 Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Other rumored performers for the show, which starred Bruno Mars in 2014 and Beyonce in 2013, included the British band Coldplay and Grammy winner Rihanna.
Not only is she watching the sport in her spare time, but Perry also made an Oct. 4 appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay. At the event she noted, “I’m not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl.”
That comment came after an August article in the Wall Street Journal claimed the NFL reportedly requested that musicians pay the league in order to play during the Halftime Show.
