Looks like Redfoo and SkyBlu — aka LMFAO — will be doing their party rocking separately for the time being.
Redfoo announced to News.Com.Au on Friday that he and his bandmate are calling it quits — at least for now.
"I feel like we've been doing this for so long, five or six years," the pop star, 37, explained. "And we're kind of like saying, Well, let's just do what's natural and just kind of explore that, instead of forcing it all the time."
Redfoo (real name: Stefan Gordy) added that he and nephew SkyBlu, 26, (born Skyler Gordy) feel like they've been headed in "different directions" musically as of late, which is why they've chosen to focus on their own projects.
SkyBlu also assured Us in a statement September 24 that the break is by no means permanent.
"LMFAO has not broken up. My uncle and partner, Redfoo, and I have decided to take some time between albums to explore our own interests in music and other areas in entertainment," he shared. "Redfoo and I are Party Rockers for life. We love and respect one another and support each other in everything we do."
With hits like "I'm Sexy and I Know It" and "Party Rock Anthem" under their belts, the L.A.-bred duo — who are related to music exec Berry Gordy (he's Redfoo's father and SkyBlu's grandfather) — first started performing together in 2007. Prior to getting involved with music, Redfoo worked in finance.
