Madeleine Stowe, aka Victoria Grayson, Won’t Return to Revenge If It Gets Renewed

Madeline Stowe won't return to Revenge
Madeleine Stowe won't be returning to Revenge if the show is renewed for season 5.

Revenge without Victoria Grayson? Could such a thing exist? Though ABC has not announced its renewals yet, Madeleine Stowe’s infamous face will be missing from the lineup come fall should the show get a fifth season.

Right now Victoria Grayson’s fate is up in the air. When we last saw the Hamptons Ice Queen, she was sitting atop her cursive-covered throne in her former mansion, which now belongs to Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp). Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) then turns up the gas and opens a cigarette lighter, setting Grayson Manor ablaze while seemingly still inside.

Stowe, 56, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the fate of her character following the explosive episode, noting that fans will get some insight into Victoria’s reasoning soon.

“I think in the next few episodes you’ll see some flashbacks that reveal why she did what she did, how it went down and the real motivation behind it,” she said.

But is Vicki really dead?!

“I am not coming back to Revenge,” Stowe confirmed. “This season is the end of her story line. I felt this character’s story was done last season, and [the creative team] wanted her to continue, and they had the right to exercise that choice. But she had a very finite story, and it needed to come to its conclusion. We went back and forth, and this is the direction we all thought was the best way to go.”

This isn’t the first time Victoria could have potentially escaped from death. In the finale of season 1 we saw her board a plane that was later blown up. This most recent explosion, however, seems to have pretty permanent effects.

“It seems really abrupt in terms of what motivated her, but information will come forth and it’s something that will be stunning; it happened just before she decided to blow up the house,” Stowe teased, noting that all future appearances will be in flashback form.

She wouldn’t be the first original Hamptonite to make an early exit. In the mid-season finale, Daniel Grayson (Josh Bowman) took a bullet to save Emily’s life, and was written off the show after the actor publicly noted that he felt his character’s story had come to an end.
