Nick Jonas Premieres "Chains" Music Video Featuring Dylan Penn
Off the "Chains"! Nick Jonas premiered the video for his solo debut single, "Chains," on Wednesday, July 30.
In the brooding clip, Jonas, 21, gets dragged across the floor of a church by a mystery woman, and tied up to a chair. He shows off his biceps in a rolled up, ragged white T-shirt by AllSaints.
When he breaks free, he runs to find the girl he loves, played by Dylan Penn, the daughter of Sean Penn and Robin Wright. Jonas then has to push through a S.W.A.T. team to reach the 23-year-old model.
"You got me in chains," he sings in the dark, R&B-leaning track. "You got me in chains for your love…"
"I'm talking about love, I'm talking about heartbreak, a big theme for me in this is trust, and fear," he told MTV News about the inspiration for the song. "The story behind 'Chains' is basically that feeling that all people can relate to, it's being trapped."
Although the singer branched away from his brothers Joe, 24, and Kevin, 26, to release an album with his band Nick Jonas & the Administration in 2010, this is the first time he's releasing music as a solo artist. The Jonas Brothers announced their official breakup in October 2013.
