Mon Dieu! Claire and Jamie may have left the Highlands behind on Outlander, but their penchant for high drama arrived intact. The time-challenged lovers make quite the entrance among France’s power players during a ball at the Palace of Versailles (hello, plunging neckline! take that, Joseph Duverney!). And, as seen in Us Weekly’s exclusive sneak peek, the drama doesn’t stop this season.
“The characters they meet are very different from last season,” Caitriona Balfe (Claire Fraser) says in the video.
Thanks to their assumed role as wine merchants, they sip their way through Paris’ high society. “In France, a lot of it is going to parlor rooms and drinking tea and gossiping,” Balfe says.
Along the way, Claire and Jamie meet friends, enemies and frenemies à la Prince Charles, socialite Louise de Rohan (who introduced Claire to the bikini wax in the second season) and powerful businessman Comte St. Germain.
“I don’t feel the Comte has any limits whatsoever. He’s definitely ready to kill to make his way up to the top,” Stanley Weber (Comte St. Germain) says.
