Think Hollywood actors are overpaid? In some cases, you're very right!

Eddie Murphy and Drew Barrymore top Forbes' list of most overpaid actors. In the case of Barrymore, 36, for every $1 she's paid, her films return an average of 40 cents. In Murphy's case, for every $1 he's paid, his films return an average of $2.70.

Reese Witherspoon, who ranked as one of Hollywood's top paid actresses earlier this year earning $28 million in 2010, also ranked as one of the industry's most overpaid. Forbes estimates that for every $1 the Oscar winner is paid, her films return an average of $3.55.

If all you're making is two dollars back after you've paid one actress, then you're losing money. I think they put this article up to demonstrate how stupid THE READERS ARE. Yeah, you people, down below.

this article is bull crap. drew barrymore often acts as a producer on her films, so to say her worth as an actress is less than is false. she often does more than one job, overseeing production as well as being very involved in soundtrack decisions. lame story.

Let me make this very very very simple: If you pay an actor 1 million dollars, and the movie grosses 3.55 million dollars, then the production house loses money. The costs of supporting cast, production, set production, lighting, directing, editing, sound engineering, hair, makeup, wardrobe, craft services, etc, etc, etc, vastly outweigh the amount of profit that the film generates. It's like buying an old car for $1000, putting $5000 of work into it, and selling it for $3550. It's a losing investment.

What is the criteria for being labeled as "overpaid?" I can understand that a payment resulting in a loss, as in the case with Barrymore, is overpayment, but a returne of over 3.5 times the salary in the case of Witherspoon doesn't seem like an overpayment from the production house to me.

This article doesn't make any sense.. If for every $1 Reese Witherspoon is paid, her films return $3.55, how is it she is overpaid? Writers, please pay attention to what you are writing.. Annoying I wasted a minute of my life reading this...
