Busy Philipps‘ new show, Cupertino, is staging a reunion with Renée Elise Goldsberry two years after Girls5Eva was canceled — and Us has the first look.
In an exclusive sneak peek at the Thursday, October 29, episode, Natalia (Philipps) and Nichole (Goldsberry) spend quality time at the firm while Michael (Mike Colter), Olivia (Rachel Keller) and Christy (Ella Stiller) are away.
Natalia, who is boxing, discusses Bo (Rob McClure), who Nichole claims is the property of the company she works for.
“If you lost track of your IP it is your fault, not ours,” Natalia replies before Nichole suggests they “move this conversation to court.”
According to the official episode synopsis, Michael and Olivia “defend the young founders of a prediction market site, one of whom has been arrested while the other flees on his private jet with Christy in tow after a night out together.”
Philipps, 47, and Goldsberry, 55, previously shared the screen on Girls5eva, which aired on Peacock from 2021 to 2022. The musical comedy then moved to Netflix and released a third season before the show officially came to an end.

Cupertino, meanwhile, marks Philipps’ return to TV after she underwent surgery for a brain tumor in early March. The show stars Colter as a Silicon Valley attorney who, after being fired by his employer, forms a firm with another laid off lawyer (Keller) to represent people harmed by the technology industry.
For Philipps, the show’s focus on questioning the use of AI hit close to home.
“I’m not an AI user. We don’t use that in my home. I actually am obsessed with my daughter’s eighth grade — and with the entire school. They are hand writing all of their assignments this year,” Philipps, who shares two kids with estranged husband Marc Silverstein, told Us. “They’re not using computers at all in response to the proliferation of [AI] — and I’m sure that kids will cheat but she’s not.”
Phillips continued: “And this has really reconfirmed my belief that billionaires should not exist and that we need to have regulations in place. And also I just trust no one.”
The actress said working on the show has taught her some important lessons.
“My absolute favorite thing to watch — and now my favorite thing to play — is a woman who becomes empowered after the age of 40 and finds her own voice,” Phillips exclusively told Us earlier this month. “That’s what I’m getting to do on this show. It shows that you can have a second act as a woman. Life doesn’t end just because your marriage does.”
Cupertino airs on CBS Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET before streaming the next day on Paramount+.
