Teen Mom 2 Recap: Jenelle Evans and Mom Barbara Gear Up for Ugly Custody Battle

Jenelle Evans is ready to fight mom Barbara for custody of her son, Jace.

Brace yourselves! It looks like at least two — maybe even three — of the Teen Moms are on the brink of battle over their kids. On the Thursday, Sept. 10, episode, Jenelle Evans and her mom, Barbara, finally had their hearing about who  should live with, and surprise! It totally didn’t go well.

Meanwhile Kailyn Lowry and ex Jo Rivera argued about how to determine his child support payments, with her husband, Javi Marroquin, present to make sure things didn’t go smoothly.

See how the brewing clashes went down:

The battle for Jace is really heating up. Jenelle and Barbara had their first mediation hearing to try to figure out a custody agreement that would work best for the little boy. Oh wait, sorry. Barbara was mostly trying to do what’s right by the grandson she’s raised all along, while Jenelle was all about Jenelle.

Since they couldn’t come to an agreement in mediation — Jenelle wants him all week, with Barbara getting Jace on weekends, if even that – court is the next step.

Mom and daughter later met at a restaurant to discuss the situation, but things became emotional quickly (as they always do with these two).

“Court will be devastating. It might not be the answer you want to hear,” Barbara tried to reason. (She’s probably right, especially if the judge has ever seen an episode of the show.) “You can’t just rip him out of everything he’s ever known.”

“I should have him full time, not you!” the oft-arrested mother of two shot back. “I’m the mom, you aren’t the father either. You’re just the grandmother!” (Reminder: Barbara’s the grandmother he calls “mom.”

“This whole thing is about Jace! It’s not about you, it’s not about me!” Barbara cried. “All I know is: Get your life together, then we gotta figure out what to do with Jace, but Jace is going to be very, very upset if he has to leave.”

And then came the kicker: With baby Kaiser making a mess (as babies are wont to do at restaurants) and Jace running around, Jenelle declares that she can’t be talking about custody issues at that very moment.

“Oh poor baby,” an exasperated Barbara exclaimed.

After Javi’s unprovoked rage last week over Jo sitting on the front porch to discuss son Isaac’s schedule with Kail, the struggling couple decided to do what? Go house hunting. Yes, because spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on a giant new house will fix everything!

While the fighting between the two seemed to have subsided, they were banding together to get Jo to pay more child support for his son Isaac’s care. As Kail likes to remind everyone repeatedly, Jo’s payments are “not even making a dent” in the expenses. Though the exes acted like grown-ups last week and amicably agreed to a schedule, this week, Javi came along to ensure that his wife wasn’t cheating on him. Err … we mean … make sure that the talk went as smoothly as the last one.

Jo, whose goal was to do his fair share for his child while keeping things amicable with his ex, wanted to avoid the courts and was happy to sit down to work out money issues.

“You tell me what you need … then we’ll sit down with the actual numbers and talk about what I can do and what I can’t do,” he reasoned.

But Javi, being the suspicious dude that he is, insisted that the best course of action was to let the courts handle everything, from determining what Jo had to pay, to the actual collecting of the money.

“What do you want me to do? Would you like me to give you all my money and just walk away?” an obviously frustrated Jo asked.

“We have spite fights all the time,” a tearful Kail reminded him, apparently forgetting that they had both been able to act like adults with each other recently.

“I’m not gonna f–k with you because I know I don’t want to end up in f—–g child support court,” Jo insisted before the cameras once again left fans with a cliffhanger.

Poor Leah. Things continued to be a downer for the struggling mom of three. She revealed that she and second husband, Jeremy Calvert, had legally separated. She’d get custody of their toddler, Addie, plus $1,700 a month in child support, and he’d get their house.

Though she appeared to have successfully left to go to an out-of-state treatment center this week for her depression and anxiety issues, her mom Dawn’s stunt last week — which resulted in Leah bailing on rehab at the last minute — had ex-husband Corey Simms, the father of her twins, concerned.

“That’s the issue: She’s made it aware that she has a problem, she’s willing to go to rehab or therapy, then all of a sudden, she comes back and she still has the problem, so I don’t feel comfortable giving my kids to somebody who has a problem that I don’t know what it is,” he explained to his attorney. “It’s obviously best for Leah to get help, but I want to make sure the girls got all the stuff they need from here on out. I want her better for the kids’ sake.”

Corey clearly had valid concerns. Let’s hope Leah can assuage his fears by getting the help she needs to become a better mom — or she better brace herself for a fight, because Corey seemed to be laying the legal groundwork just in case.

Why is Chelsea even on the show anymore? Girl’s got her life in pretty good shape. The aesthetician even said so herself when she told her friend that she feels like her “life is finally coming together” and that she’s getting the family she wanted for her daughter, Aubree.

Her “amazing” and handsome boyfriend, Cole DeBauer, would be moving in soon, but as Chelsea revealed, he’s already been mowing the lawn, doing other stuff around the house for her, and being sweet to her daughter with ex Adam Lind. “It’s important to” Cole for him to take care of Aubree, she said.

Seriously. Her biggest worry this week seemed to be that she doesn’t know what to do about Aubs wanting to call her new man “dad” after he moves in.

The other Teen Moms must be so jealous.
