The Mentalist to End After Shortened Seventh Season

The Mentalist cancelled
Simon Baker's long-lived series The Mentalist will end on CBS after season 7.

Did Patrick Jane see this one coming? CBS made an announcement on Wednesday, Nov. 5 as to the fate of its long-lived crime procedural The Mentalist. The network has declared the the show’s seventh season will be its last, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Season 7 will also be shortened to only feature 13 episodes. The beloved show will, however, be premiering its final installment sooner than anticipated. The previously unknown premiere will take place on Sunday, Nov. 30 at 9 p.m. ET.

The two-hour series finale will air on Feb. 18. EW also reports that there’s a chance the series, which stars outed “psychic” Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) as a fraud-turned-crime solver, could be shopped around to other broadcast or cable networks.

TNT currently airs reruns of The Mentalist, making it a good choice for a potential new home for the show.
