Kelly Clarkson

"For seven years it's been happening. It's like, 'OK cool, the fat joke,'" she said earlier this year. "I don't think artists are ever the ones who have the problem with their weight, it is other people."

Speaking as one lesser-known singer, I would guess There are plenty of green-eyed monsters out there just waiting to criticize those whose measure of talent or natural beauty they will never possess. Hold your head up and keep belting out the music, sister!

Holy crabcakes, Batman! She looks like she's maybe a size 12 - and that's fat? To the point of being unhealthy? I agree completely that people need to be healthy and balanced and that we do no one any favours by celebrating being hundreds of pounds overweight. But Kelly Clarkson just looks normal and healthy. She looks like shamoo to you??!? Really??! WTF...!??
  • February 16, 2010 - 11:43am Betty J Berger Says:

Clarkson is of course correct. Fat is not a stigma, like acne! Its a normal phase and different bodies, have different reactions. I am up and down and I attribute that to liars in the manufacturing arena for putting incorrect ingredients on their labels. The all lie like Persian Rugs. Bea

Right on Kelly...You Go Girl! Your music makes up for all the jerks out there. Bea
  • February 16, 2010 - 11:36am Betty J Berger Says:

Clarkson is right of course. We eat a few foods and gain a few pounds, and the whole World jumps our as-es. Leave it alone people for God's sake get a life. Its none of your business how much we may/have gained, none of your darn business. You want me to come out there? Bea

whine and make fun of her all you want, you're not on stage singing, and making all that money you jerks! People can gain or lose weight, but stupid people are always stupid.

How is being grossly overweight "being a good role model"? Extremes, whether anorexic or obese, is BAD. (Same as extremes in politics in my opinion.) Come on, you know fat when you see it.... and you usually don't want to! People who are out of shape should dress accordingly, what is with all of these fat people (especially young ones) showing their fat rolls wearing mid-riff shirts? I'm glad airplanes are finally forcing fatties to buy two seats. Why should the rest of us suffer for their sloth? Same with our insurance premiums rising to carry all of these fat health risk folks.
  • February 15, 2010 - 10:29pm ur all pathetic Says:

u ppl think its ok to say this kind of stuff about other people. u pathetic losers dont kno how it affects people, im not exactly skinny myself and plenty of other people hav let me kno it. i cant even explain how many times ive come a little too close to takin one pill to many, or letting the razor blade bite too deep into my wrist, u people make me sick

When will overweight people realize that, whether due to their own choices or not, overweight conditions that prevent a person from performing daily functions, such as walking, climbing stairs ,or being able to ride on an airplane, or even fit in the seat, has been defined by the ADA as a DISABILITY. Where are all the lawyers wh o are trying to act for disabled people.

  • February 15, 2010 - 5:14pm Janet Says:

Indirectly, some of you are slamming some of my favorites: Drew Carey, Roseann Barr, Rosie O'Donnell-not a favorite, Queen Latifah, John Goodman, Carrol O'Conner...just to name a few.
  • February 15, 2010 - 5:01pm S J Smith Says:

Have you noticed that it seems only the women who might be a little overwieght(according to the unrealistic standards of Hollywood or music) are the ones who receive the criticizm? Why not the men also?
  • February 15, 2010 - 5:00pm Janet Says:

Shame on all of you who have bashed this woman because of her weight! Lindsey, you are just plain rude and socially unacceptable; and "L", it sounds to me like you are jealous. You all need to grow up. God did not create us all equal in size. Also, no well-bred adult would write such offending and hurtful comments.
  • February 15, 2010 - 4:58pm P Tharp Says:

I used to be very critical and stared at fat people to - now I realize not everyone can help it - a lot of people have a medical reason for their size. If you to way to fat because all you do is stuff in food - then yes you should change you ways because it is soo very unhealthy for you - but come on people let;s give others a break and stop judging them!
