Kirstie Alley to Star in Reality Series

Tuesday – November 03, 2009 – 3:49pm

Ready for the next big thing in reality TV?

Kirstie Alley plans to return to the small screen in an unscripted docu-series for A&E -- chronicling her continuing fight to lose weight while raising two teenagers alone.

With 10 episodes confirmed, the untitled reality show will run sometime in 2010, Variety reports.

"Kirstie is exactly the kind of star A&E is drawn to," an A&E executive told Variety. "Her personal life has been playing out in the media for years, but this will be the first time she'll be opening up her home to reveal her real life for the cameras."

Alley's last TV series was 2005's Fat Actress, the half-improvised, half-scripted Showtime show in which she played herself.

The star of Cheers and Veronica's Closet -- and former Jenny Craig spokesperson -- will reportedly launch a weight loss program as the cameras roll, Variety says. She will also, the article notes, be "producing a feature film, patenting multiple inventions, working hard to raise two normal Hollywood teenagers, taking care of eight ringtail lemurs and, on top of everything, looking for love."

Married to actor Parker Stevenson from 1983 until 1997, Alley and her ex-husband have two adopted children: William, 17, and Lillie, 15. The California resident has a vacation home in Maine.

Alley lost 75 pounds as a Jenny Craig spokesperson, revealing her bikini body on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2006. Earlier this year, however, she returned to Winfrey's show to confess that she had ultimately gained 85 pounds -- weighing in at above 200 pounds.

"It's humiliating," she told Winfrey. "The most painful thing for me is that I have all these people that I inspired and then I let them down."

On Monday, Alley took to Twitter to announce yet another Oprah appearance: "I AM GOING to be on Oprah tomorrow..some fun news to announce," she wrote.

This is a ridiculous premise for a reality show. We have watched Kirstie Alley fluncuate with weight for many years and while I do sympathize with her, there is nothing new about this show that we haven't already seen in recent years. I hope for Kirstie's sake it is a success but for the life of me I don't believe it can be. And this is one fan that will not watch her humiliate herself over and over just for a buck.

    I may have to watch.

This woman is a train wreck. So what if she can drop 100 pounds fast-Lots of people could but its the keeping it off for life that she failed to master. I have no sympathy for her because she chose her path.

Kirstie is not a "real person." She's a Scientologist and believes she is a "Thetan," who ended up on Teegeeack (Earth) having gotten sprayed with clusters of dead space alien souls blasted from volcanoes by the evil galactic overlord Xenu, 75 million years ago.

Kirstie and her addiction problem ( now with food and cigarettes and previously with drugs and cigarettes) demonstrates how scientology does not really work. She's a mess physically and has to resort to this type of show because there is nothing else for her in Hollywood. She reigns as having the worst before and after and round again fat war pics. If she gave up scientology, there might be some hope for her with other methods her cult is against.

Kirstie, you're always going to be fat, because you're always stuffing your face with donuts, pies, etc. Quit suffering the public with your time wasting stunts.

OMG! Honey, didn't anyone tell you that you are a PIG??? I hope the the money your making is worth the public humiliation you continue to subject yourself to! You really are pathetic and need to move on Miss Piggy!

Yeah Kirstie, if you really want to give your career a shot in the arm, announce on your show that you are leaving Scientology. Admit that your support for Narconon was misleading and dangerous. Talk about CCHR, how you praise an organization that says psychs were responsible for the Holocaust and 9/11 (this is what she actually believes!) Does Oprah ask her about that? No. Do journalists ask her about that? No. Why in the world not? Isn't it the best gossip story of the year? Fat, whiny and insecure is no way to go through life. Particularly when you're a Scientology OT who thinks she has power over Mass, Energy, Space and Time. She has the mass. Enough energy to tweet all day. Takes up a lot of space. Running out of time...a great example of what your money pays for in Scientology.

She's a basketcase. I'm not a TV watcher, so won't see the show, but wonder what those kids are like...
  • November 03, 2009 - 8:07pm Oh, brother Says:

I wish these celebrities would stop talking about how they let everyone down when they gain weight! Weight issues are personal and hard enough to deal with on your own - you have no obligation to other people to keep it off, let alone to millions of strangers! Keep trying for your own sake, don't worry about whether you've "inspired" us; we're not children who are going to be let down by your mistakes! Whether I gain or lose weight is not triggered by whether Kirstie or Oprah gain and lose weight! I'm responsible for myself, you're responsible for yourself, leave it at that!

pfffft most of you are nutters. At 58, and at any weight the opportunity to bang Kirstie Alley... still would supersede most everything!!!!
  • November 03, 2009 - 7:40pm Xenu Says:

Fat Actress II...can't wait. Kirstie, if you want to be famous in your old age, read something about the abusive cult you belong to, and do what Paul Haggis did. Denounce them publicly. The public would LOVE you for it, forever, and it would be a service to humanity.

Yay! I'm so excited! I really like her.
  • November 03, 2009 - 6:12pm Sue Says:

I am 55 and been fighting my weight for many years. I can understand kristies ups and downs. It is not like you can just stop eating. You are always subjected to food. We have to eat! I know it's a choice about what we eat but for those of us that are over weight It is not easy to loose 10 lbs mush less 50-60-70 lbs. I hope she is successful in her weight loss. she is an inspiration to a lot of people.
  • November 03, 2009 - 5:43pm Shayla Says:

Kirstie Alley is crass, egotistical, and boring. She's also a member of a cult that offers up a purification rundown that melts the pounds away. She's a member in good standing. She should try a purif rundown to lose weight. Hey, they made Katie Holmes emaciated when she was doing them.
