I wish that Drew Barrymore would step in and befriend Lindsey; she led almost an identical life, with a enabling mother and almost ruined her career (it certainly stalled big-time) and could have died. There were pictures of her at age 6 at parties her mother dragged her to, because she was famous as the little girl "Gertie" in E.T.

But Drew got a hold of herself, got off of alcohol and drugs, and has slowly and carefully built herself back up into an A-list actress who is respected and in demand, at first taking what she could get (Poison Ivy) and then being picky and doing small parts in good, often independent films rather than needing to be the STAR.

Now she has her own production company (a real one, not like most stars who think they do) and her life is on track. She has been very open and candid about what life in the spotlight and the Hollywood atmosphere can do to a little girl or a teenager, that complete disconnect from reality. Drew also had to separate from her mother, who was eerily similar to Lindsey's mother in that she clearly enjoyed the second-hand fame and all of the money.

If Lindsey respects Drew, she would be the perfect person to befriend Lindsey and try to gently help her see the sad path she's heading for (someone mentioned Tara Reid... think of any "child star" that didn't have a good family grounding - Dana Plato, the Corey's, Charlie Sheen, - yes I'm dating myself here! I wonder if a lot of teenagers today even know who Corey Haim or Corey Feldman are/were?) Look at the entire junior cast of Different Strokes for examples.

Well, just a thought. Not likely Drew is reading this!! :) Maybe she or someone like her will get the idea on their own.

For myself, as just an everyday person and mother, I feel very sorry for her; I'm not exculpating her and saying that it is not her fault at all, but I do feel that her parents (is there even a father? isn't he in jail? funny how the mother always gets blamed)are really the problem behind how she has turned out; even if she wanted it, she entered show business at a very early age and has been commercialized to death.. and then her rather young mother (40 is pretty young to have a 20 year old) seems to be the one who wishes she were the star, young, pretty, out partying and desirable to young men and boys everywhere. I think that Lindsey has two roads facing her: 1. She continues as-is, gets a few more movies, then starts slowly dropping off of the scene, as so many starlets before her have done, even though they once thought they were irreplaceable (and I'm sure, get told that constantly!!), and eventually she'll retire on her money or end up sadly dead of an overdose or drunken car accident. 2. Something will spur her to realize that that road is there, and she'll take charge of her life and drop out of the partying scene; sure, she won't make the covers of the magazines all the time anymore. But does Kate Winslet? I'm sure that Lindsey would kill to have Kate Winslet's career, getting constantly offered Oscar-caliber parts (or Scarlet Johanssen.. still very young too (how old is she.. 20? 21?) but appearing in a completely different type of role, in adult roles instead of perpetual teen-hood.). These two may not make the covers constantly but when Oscar season roles around they are getting the nominations and are (or will be) on the stage getting the awards; more importantly they have stable homelives and are trusted by the studios, and actually seem to care about acting as ACTING, as a profession or a craft, a form of art, instead of just a way to be famous (I can act! I can sing! I can direct! I can be a model! it doesn't matter, just take my picture!).

Oh well... hoping for path #2.

Lindsay Lohan isn't a little girl..If she wants to be an actress she needs to get to work on time and not drinking and parting all night which she is still under age for drinking and do her job..She is spoiled and she acts like she is all that when she isn't..She is just a joke.>She isn't a great actress..For that fact she isn't even an ok actress..I don't think she can act and she definitely can't sing..If she wasn't to be treated like an serious actress then she needs to stop acting more responsible and getting to be on time so she can go to work in the mmorning..And as for her mom, she pushed her daughter into this business so now back off and let her do her job and stop making ezcuses for her..She isn't a little girl any more..

Kathleen, I'm sure they have someone in their camp reading these things, but I'm also sure that they don't care. as defensive as they are, it leads me to believe that they are too egotistical to see how wrong they are.

ashleyalexis, while i agree with you that she is a young woman and deserves to have a life and not grow up so quickly, i do not agree that she be having so much fun that it compromises her duties to which she has committed herself. those delays are very costly, to the tune of hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars, and if the reason the delays come about are because someone is partying so much that it compromises their health, then yes, she does need to stop that. there is a time to play and a time to be responsible. if she doesn't want to be responsible, then perhaps she should reconsider her career options.

Lindsey is her "cash cow," so this is expected. As her mother, why does she let her daughter do all this all-night hard partying if she has bronchial asthma? I've seen many photos of Lindsey smoking; not good for asthma!

Lindsay is still a young adult and needs to live like any young adult would... just because she's making that much money for a movie, does not mean that she has to grow up that fast!! i'm sorry but every 20 year old deserves to have fun and live like a 20 year old regardless of what their job is and who they are!!!

I agree that the mother is living vicariously through the daughter and after the situation with this movie, I doubt seriously that Lindsey will ever be taken seriously by most movie executives. They can't all be like Robert Downey Jr! She should take a break from everything and make a Madonna-like come-back!

How come Lindsey is the only one who suffered from the heat, but Jane Fonda who is in her 60s is okay. Dina is pathetic. Lindsey has enough friends and needs a real parent. I hope that letter was a wake up call and it put Lindsey in her place.

Where do I even start with this one?

Well, for those of you who are acquainted with my past blogs on Lindsey Lohan, this time, I will refrain from saying anything about her, and will focus on the mother who is clearly and sailing happily along the River Denial...

This statement proves what many of us have known all along...that Dina is the MAJORITY of Lindsey's problem. And I concur with your statement Christa as it only solidifies what I have said in the past about Dina...that since Lindsey is bringing down the big "cheese" (money) for the family, the mother, has consciously made the choice to look the other way, and deny, deny, and deny...allowing Lindsey to "so call live her life," while she is parading around in flesh-colored suits that make her appear nude, men, such as Jeremy Piven made lewd and obscene comments to her while she giggles, or while she is given the magnanimous title of "Fire Crotch."

I can see it now. One day Dina will say:

“I feel when you are 40 (years-old) it is way out of line…Maybe he has personal issues with whomever and it came out with my child,” she told Access’ Billy Bush. “I don’t know him. I can’t judge him. I don’t think it was a smart thing to do to a young girl.”

Oh. And as far as this Academy Award prediction...is Dina really so far gone that she ACTUALLY believes this??!??!!? This just proves to me, that beyond a shadow of a doubt, that while Lindsey is out clubbing, smoking, and bedhopping, Dina is hitting the crack pipe hard, and I mean extremely hard, if she believes this!

Hmmmm....I wonder if she meant Scarlett Johanssen will will an Academy Award? Well No, that can't be because Scarlett is not in this movie! (LOL) If Scarlett were, you would only here of her ultimate professionalism, pose, and acting skill.
