Good for him! I think it is wonderful he has admitted his problem and is wanting to seek help for it...best of luck to him and his family!

Comedian Robin Williams is being treated for alcohol abuse after 20 years of sobriety, Reuters reports.
The 55-year-old Oscar-winning actor "found himself drinking again" after two decades of sobriety and "has decided to take proactive measures to deal with this for his own well-being and the well-being of his family," spokeswoman Mara Buxbaum said in a statement.
"He asks that you respect his and his family's privacy during this time," she said, adding, "He looks forward to returning to work this fall to support his upcoming film releases."
In addition to his new film The Night Listener, Williams has three more movies coming out later this year.
The actor was nominated for Academy Awards for his roles in Dead Poets Society, The Fisher King, Good Morning, Vietnam and won the Oscar for best supporting actor in Good Will Hunting.

i hope robin pulls through and doesn't pull a mel gibson! :)
I hope that he sticks it out in rehab and makes a long term change in his life. That is so sad.
Funny, I thought he was on uppers.
I'll bet, he's a total crack up when he's all wasted! Or not...
I'm glad Robin is seeking help - hope he gets everything he is looking for from rehab.
Good for him!
He's always made me laugh. I think Mrs. Doubtfire was my favorite too.
i think it is good therapy to come clean about your problems.
awwww Robin, good for you!
Good for him! I have a friend who struggled with alcohol addiction and didn't think they needed rehab. They are now in jail for killing someone while driving drunk. That Mel is lucky he didn't kill somone while he was driving drunk.
That really sux, but why publicize it?
Good Luck Robin, It is a hard disease to deal with, I am glad you are seeking the help you need.
I loovveeee Robin Williams!!! I least he got help before pulling a Mel Gibson jajaja is that what we are calling it now? jajajaja...
All the best to Robin...
hiccup ...once a drunk, always a drunk
Yeah, what jokes Williams will have later....I expect nothing less! I love his totally unPCness.
It looks like I am drunk the way I typed above. I think I have tired eye's syndrome.
Mother lol, so true! I'm not sure where everyone is.... Sleepy, I guess
I'm startig to think th eonly way foir me to meet a star is to pretend to be a drunk and go to rehab. If Robin Williams did not come clean he would have been outed by the paparazzi. H eis a great guy and he will be back on track soon. Maybe he is giving Mel advise in rehab right now on how to aproach the Jewish subject with a joke since no one is taking the apology to heart.
hey girlangel where is every one tonight I get a free minute and have not seen anyone I know.
Lol alberta girl!!! What's her problem? I didn't understand what u wrote until I read the post over there.
PMS?????
I posted but it didn't show up. Hmmm.
I just wonder if he started drinking again after the death of the Reeves. He was very close with both Christoper and Dana and maybe the grief was too much for him.
I do know it takes a strong person to admit they need help. I wish Robin much luck on his continued journey with a horrible disease like alcoholism.
I have always loved him. His sense of humor can be so crude....just my type! Good for him for privately realizing that he needed help instead of having to experience public humiliation. I know he has been candid about his previous drug abuse, so I am glad that he (and his family) have enough sense to realize that you can substitute one addiction for another. It's not about what you are doing, but how and why.
I suspect this hit him after the Reeves passed away. He was very close with both Christopher and Dana, and I imagine losing them both got to be too much.
It takes a strong person to admit they need help. I wish Robin well, and his family too.
Good for him! I have an alcoholic in my family and it is very important to realize when you need help and to seek it. It takes a lot of courage! I wish him all the best!
I think it takes a lot of courage for someone to admit they have a problem and need help. Good for Robin for realizing he has a problem and can do something about it.
atleast he realizes he has a problem and maybe gets the help he needs
i wish him luck........though he probably could have quietly gone and no one would notice----but they announce it?? That part i don't get, you would think you would keep it private unless you couldn't---but who am i to comment. I am still under the rock lisa sent me to on the tom/suri thread :)
Good for Robin and his family. At least he's doing something about his problem.
Way to get back in control of your life Robin. The man is wound so tight I bet drinking is his way of coming down. He is one hyper dude. I love his movies if he is in it I will watch it. I heard he was left alone allot as a child and he used his own imagination to entertain himself. He must have been one lonely kid. God bless you Robin get well soon.
Maybe some good has come out of the Mel mess after all. There but for the grace of God.....! Congratulations Robin.
Been sober 13 years, but I know that there will never be just one drink for me.
