Shame on all of you people who have no compassion for animals. So what if there are bigger stories to write about. Oprah loved her dog and has every right to mention on her show that Sophie passed away. It's horribly upsetting to lose a beloved dog and I feel sorry for anyone who has to go through it. Thanks for your show on puppy-mills Oprah, wish more people were as caring of animals as you. Bless you.

Oprah Winfrey's 13-year-old Cocker Spaniel, Sophie, has passed away of kidney failure.
"Everyone here is really sad," a source at her Harpo production company told Celebrity Dog Watcher. "Sophie was truly part of the Harpo family as well as Oprah's."
In the December issue of O, Winfrey wrote about Sophie's condition, saying that she and beau Stedman Graham were "preparing for the inevitable."
The two have another Cocker Spaniel, Solomon.
Less than a year ago, they lost their beloved Golden Retriever, Gracie, who chocked on a ball.
Gracie "did more living in two years than most dogs do in 12," Winfrey wrote of the dog's death last year. "This dog lived every moment as though it were her last.
"Her life was a gift to me," she added. "Her death, a greater one."

Money doesn't matter at a time like this. The loss of a dog can be absolutely devastating, and my prayers are with Oprah.
And by the way, dogs don't care about luxury and goumet food. All they want is some attention and love.
I have a spaniel that looks just like Sophie. When my dog passes I will be devasted, but dogs as people are mortal. I have one dog, I believe that she has many. Google search and you will find that this is not the first of her dogs to pass.
It makes me wonder if what I recently heard in the news, Ellen's show gaining over Oprah's does not have something to do with this hype and the advertizing of today's Oprah show filming her break down.
If this is true I think we all need to take a closer look at what we hear, what we see and what we read. And if it is true, how sad. All you need to do is go out in your community and I am sure that you can find someone who is hurting. Maybe we all need to turn off the TV and support those around us.
"WHO CARES ABOUT A RICH LADYS DOG ,PEOPLE LOSE SONS AND DAUGHTERS EVERYDAY BECAUSE OF WAR,THAT DESERVES PRESS NOT THE DOG"
What the heck was that comment about (he's an a**hole). What does that have to do with losing one's beloved companion? I lost my Shih Tzu, Charlie (my doggie and m soulmate) who sadly went to Rainbow Bridge on 12/12/2007... I still can't stop crying about it.
People get so attached to their pets and I understand the heartache of losing one. I hope Oprah makes it through and eventually opens her heart to a new puppy. God Bless!!
Dear Oprah and Sophie.
Sophie will still be there, still there in your home, and still with you. She always will be, until you meet her again in heaven. I know that this is a very tragic time in your life, Oprah, and I know that nothing in the world can make you feel any better. . .But, Sophie's with God and Gracie, how great is that? She's already got a friend up there! And, believe it or not, you'll be there with her soon enough. Sophie lived a great and long life, and I'm sure she feels that way. I will pray for you, along with Sophie. I bet you Sophie is right there with you, as I type this comment. Have much peace and grace.
-Jordyn.
Good, I'm glad this dog died.

I hope you live a very tragic life, and die very tragically. You're an a**hole!

Who cares? I'm glad that this got press, and will continue to. Sophie is more important than the war!
Oh my God there's a lot of mentally challenged people who've managed to not only get on the internet, but can actually type too!
Pretty soon, you'll all be taking that next great step toward independent unassisted living. 'Dad lets me drive slow on the driveway.'
My apologies to people who are actually mentally challenged and not just stupid.

SOUNDS LIKE DAISY AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

2:45 AM Daisy Says:
Wow. Is this really newsworthy???? It's not the same as a PERSON dying it's only a DOG. Must be a slow newsday.

This is ironic coming from someone who's name is DAISY. Sounds like a dogs name to me.
"This is news? shame on you."
Um, maybe you should stop reading Us Magazine if you want news? Try the NY Times--heard of it?
I think it's lovely that Oprah unabashedly promotes compassion to animals and people.
daisy 2:45 people like you feel that way that dont have pets. when you get a pet and you love them the way you should they are just like a human being except they cant talk (but in their own way to where we understand them), but believe youme they have emotion and show emotions just like us,and yes they even cry.
Well. Isn't that sad.

AWE!! She truly treats and loves her dogs like they are her children...I'm sad for her. I lost my dog I had for 10 yrs, he was my baby and although its been 3 yrs since he's been gone I miss him deeply. Stop hatin on Oprah...shes more of a giver then most celebs
I guess being celebrity gets you in the pages for loosing an animal. It's happened to me plenty of times. Where's my article?
But seriously, I am sorry! It's never easy!
Wow, it is beyond pitiful to see how many people bashing Oprah and her love for Sophie. Obviously you do not understand how much her dogs mean to her. She has said it many, many times, that her dogs are like her kids. She doesn't have children, so literally, her dogs are her kids. So quit bashing, and let the woman grief. It's nice USmagazine reported this. I am a huge animal lover. My dog, too, is like a child to me. I never felt any connection to kids, I find them too whiny and obnoxious. Yet my dog who is so silly and sweet, patient and understanding, who is SO excited to see me come home, who can cheer me up like no body can. Losing her would be devastating, and I can see how much of a blow this is to Oprah. RIP Sophie.
chocked? get a dictionary
You people that don't have any compassion for people and there pets really need to get a life. You must be real morons. To most of us that have pets, they are like our children. Losing one of them is like losing a family member, I know, I have walked in Oprah's shoes plenty of times. The last time was December, 2007. Everyone that is complaining about the death of her precious Sophie either doesn't have a pet or if you did it probably ran away from you. You imbeciles should know that dogs can think, have feelings like being happy & sad, feel pain just like we do. I myself have great respect for Oprah for the way she shows her feelings about her furbabies. So you cry babies go get a life.
So doesnt matter, but didn't her dog CHOKE and not CHOCK? Just saying......Hey, but sorry O.
This is news? shame on you.
Even among celebrity gossip, this is stupid!!!!
I guess Britney really has sobered up and is taking medication. US is out of stories! Once the Hills is off the air, they'll be out of business.
Anyone who loves animals feels sympathy for Ms. Winfrey. I don't have to agree with her ideals, but I do feel for her grief.
Shame on you people who don't have a beloved pet.....criticizing anyone over the loss of one is mean and shows your real character.
It's so funny that people are in a tizzy over this article.
Of course it isn't news, people... it's celebrity gossip.
Last week, I read a headline here that said "Angelina gives her kids Cheetos". I mean... who cares? How is this any less ridiculous?
Get over yourselves and go somewhere else.
this is so stupid!!! there are millions of people suffering all over the world and yet oprah's dog's death make front page news. gimme a break! i'm sry that her dog died becuz i'm sure the dog was very special to her but WE DONT ALL NEED TO KNOW THIS!! this is a garbage article and our media needs to change their focuses and priorities.
i agree with the comment below!
This is an entertainment magazine. So they're gunu post anything about celebrities, whether it be that their dog died or they were caught picking their nose. If you want real news, ready the NEWSpaper. Her dog died, it's celebrity news! Get used to it!
why are people mad that us weekly posted this.? we leave the REAL world news to the NEWS STATION! this is us weekly! be for real!!!!!! im sad for oprah....:(
Shame on Us. Deleting comments that have to do with the story and keeping stupid comments like poser at 3:16. Good job, Us. Bravo.
My jaw dropped when I read this story!
I'm glad people are recognizing it as utterly ridiculous.
Who cares if her dog died??????? This is news??????
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!??! SINCE WHEN IS OPRAH'S DOG NEWS?!!??! I THINK US WEEKLY SHOULD BE ASHAMED. THERE'S MUCH MORE GOING ON IN THE WORLD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
