Reese Witherspoon visited at a New Orleans school for at-risk kids for the upcoming Idol Gives Back special.
Airing April 9, the show features Witherspoon, 32, at a Children's Defense Fund Freedom School where troubled children learn to become community leaders.
It isn't Witherspoon's first do-gooder trip to the Big Easy.
In 2006, the actress (and CDF board member) helped open the city's first Freedom School.
"Once you have children in your life, you can no longer close your eyes to people... who are in a similar situation," Witherspoon told ABC News at the time.
Brad Pitt, Us Power Girl Miley Cyrus, newly single Robin Williams and Mariah Carey will also take part in the Idol Gives Back show.
Last year's special raised more than $75 million to help fight poverty.

Who cares that they are just doing it for publicity? Plus, how can you prove it? Just because you're famous that means you just do good things for publicity? Yeah, I'm sure some do, but you can't just slid all celebs into that one catagory. Who cares if Brad and Angie are just doing it for the publicity? They still gave 8 MILLION DOLLARS. And Reese is a good actress and if she wants to read to kids in New Orleans she shouldn't be punished. And Leonardo DiCaprio-he is always talking about the envoirment and trying to gt people involved. Should he just stop because it's "just for publicity"? People shouldn't sit around and grumble about celebs doing things for publicity, THEY should do something.

I've never posted a comment on here before but I must say I don't really appreciate people saying that celebs like Reese and Brad and Angelina are doing humanitarian work for publicity. I live in New Orleans and I assure you, every little bit helps. This city has a lloonngg way to before we are back to the way we were. So please, give credit where credit is due. How many of you have given money or clothes or even food to a worthy cause, not just the problems in New Orleans?

Reese isn't do anything to Ryan...didn't you read the article she has been involved since 2006 with New Orleans....has nothing to do with Ryan........also Brad and Angeline gave 8 millions over 2 years....that isn't even 5 percent of their income........ Brad and Angeline make sure EVERYONE knows what they do....as for Reese if the Idol Give Back wasn't coming on....WE STLL WOULDN'T KNOW that she was involved. Reese has moved on with her life. When they were divorcing she talked some about the pain ... but so has Ryan...over and over and he was the one who really didn't want to be married... both Ryan and Reese are good people. You don't have to be mean - even if you don't like some one. Like middle schoolers ...people you don't like can and do good things...

I think things like these are great, but I hate how celebs use it for promotion of new movies and publicity. Like Hayden Panettere or however you spell her name, she does it totally for fame. Same with Angelina or Madonna, rather than taking kids from their parents, why not give a million dollars to their village or adopt a poverty stricken kid in the United States. The message is all wrong, if they want to do something, do it without the camera like Robert Redford or dignified celebs.
