Nick Cannon attended Mariah Carey's birthday party a little more than a month before their surprise wedding in the Bahamas.
Carey – who turned 38 on March 27 – celebrated with her "posse," including rapper Da Brat and nephew Shawn McDonald on a private island off the coast of Antigua, Vibe magazine reports in its June issue. (Carey recently revealed her bikini bod secrets to Us Weekly.)
Vibe described Cannon, 27, as a "recent acquaintance." He was spotted with his laptop. He also fixed himself a plate at the buffet, the magazine reports.
Her nephew Shawn, who previously alluded to attending the secret wedding on Facebook, gave an "eloquent toast" at the birthday bash, Vibe reports. Carey paid for his Cornell undergrad and Harvard Law Education, the magazine also reveals.
Carey and Cannon wed at her home in Eleuthera in the Bahamas this week, the New York Post reported after Latina magazine broke news of their marriage Thursday.

Nick and Mariah are full growm people. They are entertainers who we see on tv, they are not our freinds or family, they are not even someone we personaly know. I haven't read any nasty comments, but I've only gone back a few pages from the most recent notes. What does color matter? People who are prejudiced, just don't get it: We are like flowers on the earth.... many different colors and looks. The people who put down others based on color/race are, unfortunately, the weeds.
I like the looks of Mariah's new husband. I think he is a doll. I can see WHY she fell for him. He probably has real musical talent as well. I will pay closer attention to him in the future. Just be yourself, Nick, and don't change. Good luck to you both for your life together.

I don't know about all this but I do know that they are a good looking couple. It just seems that Mariah is way too sophisticated for Nick who is a love struck puppy dog. I don't think Mariah can ever "GET OVER" on someone who is half sophisticated or street wise like let's say FLO RIDA, LIL WAYNE, AKON, BONE THUGS & HARMONY, WYCLEF JEAN, P DIDDY, JAY Z (thugs like these) who can really turn a girl out and who are much older and have street sense. I've had the pleasure of reading some of the comments from these ignorant people. My mother often told me when I was growing up think before you speak. Mariah, do they not know that you are multi racial. That you did not mary out of your so called race. People shut up and be happy for them. Mariah Carey is the BEST talent of ALL the female stars within the past 15+ years. She has the whole package: Beauty, Great Music Talent, Great Voice, Fantastic Stage Presence and Charisma.
