Eighty or ninety percent of a president's job is simply making speeches. The bully pulpit is where the president can be most effective. Reagan's rhetorical skill and his message of hope and optimism endeared him to many millions of Americans. Obama is an even more talented speaker and also emphasizes hope and optimism. Plus, Obama's conduct of this campaign has shown him to be shrewd, politically skillful and able to find and listen to smart advisers. He will be an outstanding president.
I look forward to Obama engaging McSame in side-by-side debates. Obama's strong, confident and reassuring baritone voice and message of hope and change will seem particularly attractive when heard alongside McSame's whiny, wheezy old-man tenor voice invoking the same kinds of fear-mongering big-brotherism relied on for the past seven+ years by Bush. Obama should win by a landslide!
