Britney Spears' second appearance on How I Met Your Mother won't be her last if co-creater Craig Thomas has his way.
"When people watch Britney's second appearance on the show they'll see that the door is still open for her to come back," he told the Hollywood Reporter.
"She was better than the first time and I think the fans will enjoy it because her return answers a larger mystery set up earlier in the series," he said. "So there's a good plot reason why she's there."

I love Britney, but that was funny, the comment "to see if she's normal"...she's normal people! Look at her before! What this was, I believe is a combonation of post-partum, bipolar(don't know how much), and a divorce. Plus at her age, mid-twenties is not a walk in the park, OKAAAAY! LOL

I think it would be great if they gave her a recurring role! She is actually very funny and has great natural comedic chops. Imagine how well she could do if she put her energy into acting and really mastering the craft. I think she is fantastic and extremely brave and I wish her nothing but health, continued success and most importantly happiness.

Oh please! They are just using her to get increased viewership. The show was in jeopardy of being cancelled before her appearance. People may be tuning in now just to get a glimpse of Brit to see if she's normal. That will fade away soon enough and the show will find itself on the chopping block once more.
