Sex and the City ![]() There's plenty of sex — and a full-frontal male flash — in this reunion of Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), Samantha (Kim Cattrall) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon). As Carrie plans to marry Mr. Big (Chris Noth), other dramas unfold: Miranda's marriage hits a speed bump, Charlotte gets pregnant and Samantha struggles with monogamy. The chick flick based on the HBO series that went off the air in 2004 has some large laughs and rueful cries, and plenty of fashion (the haute couture highlight comes in a montage of Carrie in designer wedding dresses). Yet the 142-minute movie has a fatal flaw: It peaks halfway through and badly needs editing. But whose moments to cut? With four divas scratching for screen time, each needs her own arc, but it hurts the film as a whole. (Still, we could have done without seeing Miranda naked in a Kama Sutra position or the multiple scenes of Samantha bored in her Malibu beach house.) Plus, the girls' label worship is galling in the current economic climate. A $300 pillow? What year is this? |
I find it laughable that this review came from US Magazine. US Magazine, who regularly "reports" on the excesses of celebrities (and wannabe celebrities) is criticizing SATC for label worship in the current economic climate? What a joke. Let me put it in perspective for you. SATC features four women well into their forties who have achieved success by working throughout their twenties and thirties. Sure, the show has always stretched reality a bit, allowing the women to afford more than they would be able to afford on their salaries in reality, but the fact remains that these women have careers. US Weekly regularly features Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, etc., who have done absolutely nothing to warrant the financial success they have been blessed with. I personally have no problem watching Carrie Bradshaw buy $600 shoes - she did, after all, write several best selling books. I do however have a problem watching Kim Kardashian buy a $200,000 Bentley - she did nothing more than spread her legs.

Nobody cares about YOUR opinion. All true Sex and the City fans are going to see this movie because we love each and every actor on the show. I wouldn't care if they sat at the diner and had breakfast for the whole hour and 42 minutes! I just love them, I love the show and I am very excited to see this movie tonight, no matter what the scenes are about!
