Us Weekly has learned exclusively that supermodel Niki Taylor, 31, is engaged to Burney Lamar, 26, a NASCAR Busch Series Driver. Lamar got down on one knee at Taylor’s parents’ house in Florida, on September 15 and asked for her hand. They plan to wed early next year. Taylor's manager Lou Taylor confirms the engagement to Us.
The couple met at a charity event in January 2006. Niki tells Us: "I looked at Burney and said to myself, 'This is the guy I'm going to marry.'" The ring is a custom-made 2-carat oval diamond in an antique setting, designed by Jerry Lindsey of Brentwood, Tennessee.
Taylor suffered a near-fatal car accident in 2001. After enduring over 41 surgeries, she has fully recovered and now owns a Nashville-area boutique called Abbie + Jesse's. She has twin boys, Jake and Hunter, age 11, with her ex-husband of two years, Matt Martinez, whom she divorced in 1996. Taylor also dated country music star Keith Urban on and off in 2002 and 2003.
Lamar, who hails from Sacramento, California, began racing go-carts at the age of 5, and is considered to be one of NASCAR's most promising young drivers. This will be his first marriage.

5 years is age appropriate between a 26 and 31 year old.

Burney is such a great guy in every aspect of his life and everything he does. He's a smart kid that knows what hes doing and I dont think he would jump into a marriage if he wasnt ready. He has been looking for a serious relationship for some time and Im glad that he met Niki and is so in love with her. Burney has excelled with everything in his life from his family/friends, schooling, career and now his wife. He is a good friend and I wish the best for him.

Congrats Burney, I will be calling you right after I write this. I have known Burney for years in racing and also living in West Sacramento. He is a wonderful young man. I always have been inpressed with his manors. I hope she is good to him and does not hurt him. Nikki take care of him! Burney we need to get you into Hendricks. I met Niki when I was 16 and she was with Irene Marie Agency in Miami w/only a few covers. I was also the first girl to ever get her autograph back then. How do I know? She told me. THe most down to earth model too! I've kept up with her all these years since then including visiting her store in Nashville. Her sisters death was a tragedy. I lost someone close to me at a young age and know the pain. I'm thrilled she has someone new who is good to her. I also married 4 1/2 years younger and could not have made a better choice. I've been married 5 years and wouldn't have it any other way! Kudos for the most talented ex-supermodel out there!
