let me say this I think that 20 Y.O. is a banging album. People crack me up now all of a sudden Janet dances are boring, Janet can't sing, or she shouldn't show her body or shes too old. First of all Janet is 40 and looks better than these 25 year olds that does negative comments on this website and that she looks a hell of a lot better than. Next her dances are so boring that Ciara, Beyonce, Cassie and Brittney all and I do mean all try to duplicate them. Third Janet can't sing, just because she doesn't stand on stage and scream her lungs out while twrling her fingers in her hair doesn't mean she can't sing or shes not jumpimng around like a fool hollering and screaming like a banshee doesn;t mean she can't sing. I love her angel like voice only artist that can scream and sound good doing it is Patti LaBelle, Aretha Franklin, and Teena Marie. Last but not least just beacuse your forty doesn't mean your old. People are just hating because Janet is a Jackson and her boob was accidentally exposed, get over it and stop hating on Janet THE ICON and let her CD sell the 10 to 20 million it should. No matter what I'll buy all Janets CD's because she is a phenomenon and I have 5 copies Of 20 Y.O. and buy more If I want. Janet ALWAYS AND FOREVER.

There are plenty of old ass artists that are still recording music today. By no means is Janet washed up. I believe the public is persecuting Janet because of the issues with her brother Michael and the accident at the Super Bowl. I have heard quite a few songs on her latest album, and I must say that I really like them. I think that some peoples expectations are too high. Janet is who she is and who are we to judge her. As for her boyfriend, he is a very successful businessman and I am sure he will steer her in the right direction even if it means leaving Virgin.

I agree with Natacha. Not to hate but Janet really does need to change her image. Most of her CDs are so "Janet Jacksony". No real growth. It's the same routine of choreographed dancers and the constant "almost" nude photos. With every promotion you can expect Janet Jackson to shed her clothes as if her body is all she has going for her. And for her maybe it is.

As a Janet fan I have to say I'm very disappointed in how her career has gone over the past few years. We love you Janet but take heed to what your true fans are saying. Don't be afraid to change. Change is good and it'll work for ya.

At the end of the day both the label and JD are responsible for what is going on here:

1. The label clearly is messing with Janet because she has decided not to re-sign with them for the future. Virgin has a history of messing with their artist like this...Mariah can attest to it. Hence why her and Janet must be good friends now. To think the lack of sales of this album is solely based on content is ridiculous. The label just didnt do right by her.

2. JD didnt do his job either. I dont mention Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis because they weren't the ones talking this cd up every time you turned around in interviews and blog entries. JD talked of the new sound this project will have and made this album out to be bigger than life. Is it? Well not entirely. 20 Y.O. should have been a dual disc cd set with 1 cd solely dedicated to remakes of all the Control tracks. The second disk could have been the music as it is now. That is how you celebrate 20 years of being in the game. They just were not creative enough in my opinion.

I as a Janet Jackson fan can understand that all artist have their era and cant expect to be on top forever. BUT...in no way do I feel Janet is washed up as other are suggesting on here. Janet needs to give ONE AMAZING TOUR that has everybody coming out of the woodworks to support. And I mean EVERYBODY!

Janet's problem is that she hasn't grown as an artist. She hasn't put out a good cd since, "The Velvet Rope."

What Janet and her management need to be doing is looking at the careers of artists who have had LONGEVITY in the entertainment industry and not try to compete with the talentedless ones, who really cannot sing like Ciara, Britney Spears, Ashanti, etc.

Instead, she should be studying the careers of Cher, Bette Midler, Patti Labelle, Barbara Streisand, Tina Turner (who is now retired) and even Chaka Khan, etc.

These women are all over 60, possess true talent, have been in the business over 40 years and continue to sell out arenas and stadiums.

There is nothing wrong with "looking younger than you are" but Janet's management and marketing team need to give her a more mature look because her audience has grown up with her.

And let's face it, as good as Janet looks, most 16 year boys are not going to have Janet Jackson posters plastered all over their walls, the way that they would have some of these younger, less talented singers.

Everyone knows that Jermaine Dupri is Janet's man but when it comes to producing, Jermaine does SAMPLING.

Janet's previous work (prior to "All for You" cd) was mostly original music written specifically for or by her.

Also, Janet was born in this business. She knows the industry. She knows that they will chew you up and spit you out. She's seen it with Michael.

She's a strong and smart woman. She needs to get back to basics in her music even if it means leaving Sony and independently distributing her music online like Prince.

Virgin Records said the same things about Mariah's music when she was on their label. They were cruel to her and made her do all the work. It was the Glitter album, but unlike the movie, it really did have a lot of good songs. Mariah's breakdown happened just before the release partly b/c Virgin did nothing to promote it and Mariah had to do everything. And right away they dumped her from their label. Obviously Mariah proved she still "has the goods" and so does Janet.

Mariah and J.D. have been close friends for a long, long time. I know Mariah will do the song if she is able to. Janet is a talented performer who works with talented producers. All she needs is a label that recognizes that instead of one that's looking for the latest flash-in-the-pan.

Quite frankly Janet's music is NOT appealing.Her voice is sooo eighties and most of her music sounds " dated". I too,think that she should record age appropriate music if she wants to continue "singing" or concentrate on acting.

There are so many artist who sing country and rock who are way over the age of 40. No one thinks they should retire. Why Janet? I find it very strange that a major record label like "Virgin" did absolutely nothing to promote this album compared to what the rappers like Jef Jam did to promote Ludacris. Dupri is right. Virgin purpously slept on this and he and Janet should both walk away from Virgin Records next year and start fresh some where else.

Miriah Carey will work with Janet if Dupri asks her to. She is very loyal to Dupri for helping breath air back into her career. She will do whatever she needs to do to help Dupri.

I have never really liked Janet's music. I get so tired of that high wisper voice that so many of those female singers have. It gets old. I think she's pretty done. I agree with other people...we're tired of the Jacksons.

It's not her labels fault, it's her own. She is over and done with. I think we all had enough of the Jacksons.

I like Janet but her time has come and gone.... Also, the scandal 2 years ago didn't help. She is 40 y.o. She just needs to try recording some more age appropriate music.

Anonymous at 12:40 hit the nail on the head. Her last album, Damita jo, came and went with barely any fanfare. I think its time Janet let it go, relaxed and enjoyed life. I used to be the biggest Janet Jackson fan back in the day (Rhythm Nation was the album!!!!) but I haven't liked much of her music since Velvet Rope. It was a good run Janet!!!

PS- I wish to God someone would tell this woman to stop pushing her boobs up so that her chin can rest on them. She looks ridiculous.
