Al Roker, Ann Curry, and Matt Lauer continued the trend of elaborately costumed talk show hosts and got all gussied up for Today.
 
If you’re not sure what you’re seeing, that’s Roker as Pirates of the Caribbean’s tentacle bearded antagonist Davy Jones. Lauer tucked himself into Johnny Depp’s nappified dreads to play Captain Jack Sparrow.
 
Curry looked hot as she turned back time to a more unitarded era to channel Cher. (Although we would have preferred the crotch-high boots with accompanying thong. If you’re gonna go there, really GO THERE, Ann.)
 
Meredith Vieira was supposed to be Bette Midler as a mermaid, but that didn’t so much work out (see footage here).
 
It remains to be seen whether former Today show host Katie Couric will dress up tonight, but maybe that would take away from her new gig as CBS Evening News anchor (it’s hard to be taken seriously delivering the latest on Iraq when you’re dressed as Sponge Bob, we suppose).
 
Or maybe producers will drop a hint by dressing up their $15-million-a year anchor as an Enron stock certificate, and make her go as a bad investment. Oh, wow, that was WRONG! But, you know, so right.
