Katie Holmes
As an unknown actress debuting in WB teen drama Dawson’s Creek, from 1998-2003, Katie quickly became the teen fantasy of most Americans alongside Michelle Williams and James Van Der Beek. Along with an up-and-down career acting in films ranging from Go, Pieces of April, The Gift and Batman Returns, Holmes is now best known for her marriage to Tom Cruise.
Holmes' dating career began in her teens with her Dawson’s Creek costar, Joshua Jackson, early in the show’s run, ending her “first love” as friends. In 2000, Holmes met American Pie star Chris Klein, and the two were together for five years before breaking it off in early 2005. In April 2005, Holmes began a highly-publicized romance with Tom Cruise. On October 6, 2005, Holmes announced her pregnancy to the press, and later gave birth to the couple's daughter Suri in April 2006. Vanity Fair published the first photos of Suri in September of 2006. The couple wed in Italy on November 18, 2006.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, Holmes got her start in 1997 after being cast in Ang Lee’s The Ice Storm. Shortly afterwards, she earned a leading role on Dawson’s Creek by auditioning via videotape from her basement. During the six-year series run, she acted in films of varying success, including Go, Wonder Boys, and a famous breast-baring role in The Gift. Most recently, Holmes had starred in Batman Begins and Thank You For Smoking, both from 2005. Holmes returned to the silver screen in early 2008 with the release of the comedy Mad Money. The actress will make her Broadway debut in the fall of 2008, when she stars in Arthur Miller's All My Sons.
