We see ink! Ed Sheeran took to Instagram on Tuesday, Aug. 11, to reveal a huge new tattoo on his chest.
The "Photograph" singer, 24, shared a shot of a massive design of a lion's head that was freshly inked in color on his body. The feline sports whiskers, a full mane, and deep golden eyes.
While the tattoo already covers a large portion of his chest, Sheeran wrote in the Instagram caption that the art is just "halfway" done. An outline can be seen in purple pen outside of the tattoo, seemingly of the area that the mane will eventually fill.
"Halfway and ouch," the Brit wrote simply.
Sheeran went on to thank his tattoo artist, UK-based Kevin Paul, via Twitter, writing, "Lion is courtesy of @kp_est78, who puts up with me complaining about the pain."
Despite the pain that comes with going under the needle, Sheeran has covered much of his body with tattoos. The "Lego House" performer has partial colored sleeves up his arms, including tattoos of a lizard, a teddy bear, and a tree.
The star first teased his plans for the new tat last month. He told BBC that he would get the lion tattoo to mark the achievement of selling out three back-to-back shows at London's expansive Wembley Stadium in July.
"Originally I was going to get the floor plan tattooed on my side, but that seemed a bit ridiculous," he told the BBC, going on to explain that he picked the lion because it is used in the logo of the England national football team.
