“I’m basically never cleansing,” the Goop founder confessed. According to Paltrow, she does cleanses “only if I’m guinea-pigging something for the website. Or I try to do one good cleanse a year.”
The Iron Man actress filled listeners in on her everyday diet as well. Spoiler alert: It still sounds super healthy. “On a normal day, I’ll have a smoothie for breakfast, and I have a pretty healthy lunch, with some protein and salad,” she explained.
Dinnertime lends itself to more flexibility: “And for dinner, I have whatever I want. But I do always try to avoid highly processed foods and high-fructose corn syrup.”
While her lifestyle website may promote cleanses, Paltrow, 45, has been open in the past about tough detoxes that forced her to reconsider how often she undergoes the process. “I can’t be on a cleanse all the time,” she told The Edit in June 2017. “I did one for seven weeks last year and it was awful.”
The mother of two also told Jimmy Kimmel in June 2017 that she doesn’t always understand Goop’s content herself. “I don’t know what the f–k we talk about,” Paltrow said after trying to describe a process called “Earthing,” which was featured on her site. (FYI, it involves walking barefoot in a park or on the beach to ground yourself to Mother Earth.)
“So sometimes there are things that you go, ‘Oh, that seems a bit much?’” the late-night host asked the Oscar winner. “Oh, yeah, for sure! Yeah,” she responded.
