Hough, for example, tells Us Weekly exclusively that her hardcore abs and toned 5-foot-3 frame are the result of switching things up.

“[Working out] used to be a what I looked like thing … but now I need it for my mental health,” the Safe Haven actress, 27, reveals to Us Weekly Video. “If I don’t work out, I don’t feel like I’ve started my day correctly.”

When it comes to her daily workouts, the former Dancing With the Stars pro and judge tells Us she does “dance cardio” such Body by Simone or Tracy Anderson to “shock” her body.

One move that Hough and Body by Simone trainer Simone De La Rue swear by is a sliding plank. To tighten your core, La Rue says to start in a plank with a towel under your right foot. Slide your right leg to your right shoulder, and after 10 reps, repeat on the left side.

Hough’s other trainer, Astrid Swan, adds that clients should incorporate a cup of veggies, such as asparagus, into their meals to to help flatten their bellies and avoid bloating. “It’s a natural diuretic,” Swan shares.
